The water was noticeably colder, the closer and closer she came. Twice, she considered going back, for the song of her family was hard to ignore, especially as the water grew less forgiving, and chilled her limbs. Still she could hear it - hear them - even from here. And though she dared not reply, for fear of crushing it, knowing they were there waiting (even though they disagreed), was reassuring. It won't take long...and it isn't its fault - it didn't decide to be dropped in the ocean. I'll just ... I'll find someone. It belongs on land anyway...one of them will take it...

It had sounded so simple at the time. But now after hours of swimming, it didn't seem quite so simple anymore.

Gradually, the great blue whale neared the surface, coming closer to the beach than ever she had before. She disliked the feeling of sand swirling around her, but the gentle weight on her tongue was a constant reminder of what, and why, she was doing this. Surfacing to see how far off she was, she was dismayed to see that there was no one on the shore. Where were they all? Will they take it? Diving down again, she made her final pass at the shore, swimming as slowly and steadily as her enormous body would allow. Pressed delicately on the fold of her tongue, was a small egg - well, small for her size anyways - which had been dropped into the depths of the ocean. She could only hope that the 4-legged creatures of Helovia, would take it and care for it.

Rising now, about 10 feet away from the shore now, her deep blue eyes gazed at the surface at water sloshed gently across her giant face. With the aid of her tail, she remained steadily beached upon the sand bar, waiting for help to arrive.

V A L E N T I N E

This fantasy, this fallacy, this tumbling stone
Echoes of a city that's long overgrown,

Your heart is the only place that I call home,
I cannot be returned.

The beach in winter was a place that he didn't expect to be, but it was some place interesting enough. He was looking for metals as usual, trying now to find one that would be suitable for Lace's armor. The thoughts of armor and the two walls mounted on his mind, and he almost couldn't sleep because of his drive to work on it. It was something that would keep his busy for a long time, but now that Sohalia was with a a child, it was a little harder for them both to work on it. It was none of his business who the child's father was, but he couldn't help but wonder. He hadn't been in the Dragon's Throat for a long time, and it was even less for him to know whom was with whom, and who was just flirting, or any of the other internal workings of the herd itself. But no, he wouldn't not ask, for it was none of his business. He continued to walk until the cold beach with little snow touched his black hooves, and all was forgotten.

There was a whale on the beach. A whale. Well not exactly on the beach, but close enough that it would be alarming. What on earth... He moved steadily towards it, looking at it just sitting on the sand bar looking around. Was it in trouble? He couldn't tell. It had it's mouth open, and from what he could see it was something that was on it's tongue, but he couldn't make out what it was. He called to the whale, hoping perhaps he could do something about it.

"Hello, do you need help? I can try to help you, because you seem to be way to close to shore. Is there something wrong?"

I can hear your cries of p a i n

The fae was far from home, but only because something was calling to her. Something that pulled her forward, taking her from her home to the Endless blue. She stepped onto the cold sand, shivering. It was much colder than it had been inland, but she summoned her courage and walked forward. She had been here once before, with Aryel. Shivering at the memory, the shook it from her head. The bay fae saw a large lump in the water, it's figure stretching for what seemed like forever. She walked closer, her muzzle outstretched. She saw the stranger, but chose to ignore him. He spoke to the whale thing, asking if it needed help. "I would assume it does. She.. or he, appears to be a little too close to shore. But being so small compared to her, we probably won't be able to push her back into the water by ourselves. We need more horses to be able to push her into the water. That is, unless she can maybe squirm free..."

The far moved a little closer to the whale, her emerald orbs inspecting the behemoth of a creature. She was scarcely close to the beach, and there were no signs of other whales. Gazing at the whale, the fae wondered hoe she was to help this whale out. The beast was much too big for her to push all by her lonesome and no few horses could do it alone.

The fae still marvelled over the the size of the whale, and the sleek, rubbery looking skin that blanketed its body. She had never seen a whale before, for they lived deep in the sea, hidden from those on land. She then glanced at the stallion, a faint spark beginning to ignite within her mind. He was faintly familiar... oh! He had once belonged to the Basin, but had left. That had been long ago, and the fae barely remembered. She couldn't remember his name, despite the fact that it was fairly obvious. She decided he was of less importance than the whale, so she averted her attention back to the sea mammal and waited for it to either reply with low toned songs or wriggle away.

Hana
I don't preach or scream ain't trying to teach the scene,
The only guidelines are those you need to read between.

She had never been to the beach before. The chilling weather did not make the water seem inviting. Hana walked along the shore, ruby eyes turned out to the water. Her brother had returned to her, her life could not get better. It was a happy gait that she moved in, quick and flawless. For once she was not the clumsy sister of Lakota, the flawless shadow. She was Hana, a warrior of the Foothills. The mare from the The Grey was simply happy to be in Helovia, simply happy to be who she was. Grinning, she now turned her eyes to the path head of her. It was a clear run, up until a corner, Hana had no idea what was around the bend. But she did not believe that anyone would be able to hurt her today.

She came around the corner and spotted two figures in the distance and a huge shadow in the water. She stops at the bend and studies them all for a moment. What was it? That loomed in the water? Was it hurting the land borne figures, or where they hurting it? Nothing seemed clear, but it did at least appear relaxed. The situation does not seem to be dangerous to the mixed palette mare, so slowly but surely she beings walking towards the group. It takes her a while to reach them, the cold air keeping her alert and fresh. She stopped next to the two figures, one male and one a younger female than herself. But the beast in the water is what captured her interest the most. A smile plays on her lips as she studies the magical looking being. Fascinations burns through her. She does not feel the need to speak to the beast, instead she wishes to catch it's eye. Her face is a mask of calm and open friendliness, assuming that a smile and her body vibes would speak more than words. Hana did not believe that the beast would be able to speak her native tongue.

She glances down to the water, noticing that it was just gently lapping against the shore. Her hooves were not in it, however she wanted to know more about the creature. She entered the freezing water slowly. One step at a time. It was an extreme cold that ran through Hana, but the mare did not believe that she should just leave the beast as she was. What if it needed help and they where her only helpers? Turning around quickly she glanced at the others, knowing that the beast needed to return to the water. Frowning she looked at the situation as a whole, unable to see a way to help push the beast back out to sea. Head turned back to the beast sadness now plucking at the strings of her heart. Vocally she was still silent but Hana hoped, as she wondered closer to the beast, that her face and body language would speak to it. Tell it that it was going to be alright. They would help her escape the sandy prison that withheld her from her home.

His daily journey had taken him far from the safety of his home, of the Foothills and his family of the Grey. Apollo's nostrils flared, intaking the scent of salt upon the cold breeze. It had been a very long time since he had last stepped foot upon the white sands of the beach, and honestly, it was a place that he tended not to venture. Honey-brown eyes were troubled as he proceeded into the sand, ebonite hooves digging into the soft granules and making his steps seem quite blumbering.

Whatever had drawn him here today, however, was lost on the sudden onslaught of memories that the rolling waves of the ocean held. He remembered the romp that he and Phaedra had shared, their playful laughter and child-like games giving way to honest, pure, and untainted terror as they had been attacked by the coiling tendrils of a sea-monster. They had both nearly died that day, driven into the churning waves by a pack of hungry, mangy wolves... But the wolves had shortly become the least of their problems. The sea monster, with muscled tentacles as huge as the thick tree-trunks in the Deep Forest, had sprouted from the depths of this very ocean and attacked... But with the help of three others, Phaedra and Apollo had survived.

It was... Traumatic, honestly, and did nothing but worsen Apollo's hydrophobia.

Still... As the Earth Medic's honey-brown eyes lingered and surveyed the white sands of the beach, his gaze was snagged by a collection of equines upon the shoreline, gazing at something in the water. The overo squinted, as if trying to make out just what it was... And after a brief moment of fear, Apollo took a step closer to investigate. A large, blue creature unlike any he had ever seen before was sitting in the waves, and during his surveillance, horned stag continued to approach. As he did so, his gaze traveled from the sea-creature to the three who were already assembled, and only one did he recognize, as a battle-sister from the Grey. Hana, was her name, wasn't it...? They hadn't actually properly met yet.

"Greetings, sister," Apollo murmured kindly as he approached the group from behind, offering Hana a kind look before turning to gaze at the other two. A filly and a red-hued unicorn, and the medic offered them both a dip of his head as well until his gaze fully locked onto the blue whale. For a water dweller her size, it did seem rather dangerous for her to be up this shallow upon the shoreline. Even the tentacle sea-creature he and Phaedra had faced had remained in the depths of the ocean, due to it's massive size.

An ear flicked towards the filly's voice as she spoke, and Apollo came to a halt, allowing the waves to kiss at his hooves, brushing sand and water against his legs. The filly was right; they needed to help. As an Medic, and one who lived to help others, the overo's heart clenched painfully in his chest. Was there even anything they could do for this magnificent creature? Even if he was afraid of water... Apollo would still face it to help this blue whale before them.

"How many of us do you imagine it would take?" Apollo questioned quizzically, inhaling sharply to take one step into the gentle waves of the ocean. "We are only so strong..." As he further examined the she-whale, situated on the beach in the rolling waves, Apollo took note of something else, nestled in the safe cradle of the sea-creature's tongue. What in the world...? Was that... An egg?

Quizically he looked to the blue whale, gazing into her large eyes with his own, gentle amber ones. "Miss...? Is this why you have put yourself in danger? To save the life of this little creature?" How noble... How just, forgoing her own safety to look out for another. Apollo hoped that one day he could be as selfless. Whether or not the whale could even understand him, Apollo waited to see what else would happen. Perhaps more would arrive, and together, they could help this magnificent she-whale.

The whale found that she was unable to respond while the egg rested so delicately on her tongue. She was afraid that the vibrations of her enormity, might squish whatever creature lived inside. Now whales, as you may or may not know, are in fact telepathic creatures. This trait was developed due to the long use of their songs along the water. They learned thousands of years ago, that in the same way the vibrations of their songs could travel through the water, so too could their thoughts. Over time, the complexity of messages which could be sent grew, although to this day, are little more than basic images and emotions. Still, it could be quite useful, especially on clear and still days such as this one, where the air allows for the transmission of messages, as well as the sea.

A leather thong. Moss. Fish

The whale projected the two items that would be needed to safely carry the egg out of her mouth and back to shore, and a fish because...Well, because she was hungry. It was into the mind of the youngest to arrive, Frost Fyre, that she sent these images. Were not the young, the most crafty and resourceful when they wanted something?

[Congratulations Frost Fyre! Before you may have the Egg, you must find a leather thong (or have one made), bring back moss from the Woods, and a Fish for the whale. Good luck!]

I can hear your cries of p a i n

There were two others to come, a roan sabino mare and a black stallion with white markings. I watched them closely, only one had a horn. It was the stallion. She smiled at him, nodding her head in greeting. To the mare, the fae forced a smile and a nod to the mare. She was trying to be nice. She looked back at the whale.

To her surprise, something... magical happened.

Two images poured into her mind, as though it was.. the.. whale? The fae glances at her, eyes widening. So this is what magic felt like. She payed attention to the two images that shifted into her mind. A leather strap, and green moss. The fae imprinted the images within her head just as another image drifted in. A fish. At first, the fae did not understand what the fish was for until she looked at the whale. Was it hungry? The fae nodded her head, excitement fluttering up in her stomach. She spun around, speaking words that slid through her teeth and towards the whale. "I will be back with what you need." She halted for a moment, looking back at the others. She nodded her head before racing off to find what she needed. She planned it out, thinking she would stop by the Meadow and grab moss from a tree and a fish. If her fishing attempts failed there, she would return and stab whatever fish dared to come near the beach. But where would she find leather? She could ask Crowley or some other crafter... she would have to think about that. She sped onward, towards the Meadow.

Hurriedly, the fae raced back with what the whale had requested. It had taken longer than she had hoped, but she had found everything. The fish's nasty smell began seeping into her coat, making her reek of fish. She hated the smell, and took a mental note to wash off later. She looked at the whale, who was still there. She leaped into the water, her coat moistening. She splashed through the water, her tail raised above the water slightly. She marched towards the humongous creature, her emerald eyes fixed on the strange thing. She showed the whale the fish, the leather and the moss that was placed on her back. She faced the whale, bowing her head in greeting. "I have what you need, a fish, leather, and moss." She paused, realizing how long this had taken her.
"Apologies for this being so late..." She approached the whale, a little hesitant. How was she going to do this? She stared for a moment, eyes scanning over the whale's massive structure.

Striding until she was practically bumping against the whale, she approached it's face... or what she thought was it's face. She reached back, grabbing both the moss and the leather in her mouth. She looked quizzically at the whale, unable to do much with it. She looked at the whale, her brow slowly raising up. The fae made a muffled sound, something that sounded a bit like, "help?" But she couldn't really speak due to the mouthful of moss she had at that moment. She hoped the whale knew what to do with the items, for she was clueless, sort of. She only knew the fish would be used to feed the whale... maybe the leather and moss were to be used to get something? She just looked at the whale, a puzzled look on her face.

The whale had wondered if perhaps this little horned sprite would not return. Had she made a mistake - departing so far from her kind - to come here? Would the land nymphs let her down? They had not in the past...but then again, the life if a whale is often so much longer than that of an equine, that curious things tend to happen, in the time she is under water.

She is not left so long however, that she gives up all hope. And soon, the youngling returns. As she wades in the water, the whale awkwardly tries to shuffle herself - although she is a creature of great bulk, and is not meant for such delicate readjustments. For fear of injuring the little ward she carries, she ceases her efforts. Closer She mentally whispers. As Frostfyre does so, she indicates via mental image, of the moss creating a nest. As if preparing for the largest and sloppiest french-kiss imaginable, her great tongue sloshes in her mouth, as she readjusts the creature. It is now less of a ball of light, but appears to have paws...? Curious. Extending her tongue towards FrostFyre, she gently allows the orb (now appearing to have fur), and letting it roll down her tongue, into the mossey-nest that the unicorn has provided. Although the creature will not live in a nest, the whale didn't want to risk it falling into the ocean, and being carried away by the tides.

"There now, little lass. The creature is yours. I am trusting its survival to you - should you need me, you and I shall be mentally linked until the creature is able to fully run and walk on its own. All you need do, is think of me, and I shall know your thoughts."

[Congratulations! Please update the Character Records thread once you have a name. Apologies for the delay! FrostFyre has also been granted the ability to speak telepathically for 2 weeks! She may call the whale again (Tag RE), but this ability extends weakly to those around her as well. This may not be used in battle.]
