You're what happens when two substances collide
And by all accounts you really should have died
</style>

I have sent you away.

Find someone, I told you. Find a soul on the borders of the World's Edge, any that does not know of me, and bring them to me, to this site of death and chaos.

I wonder, as I lay shivering falsely in the shadows of the thistle meadow and beyond the grove, with whom you will return. I know so few of the herd's ranks, I do not worry I'll be recognized. I fear only that I won't be believed—that the testimony of a decaying colt will go unheeded, and that this masterpiece of death to which I have transformed what was once a simple nurse, this trail of chaos and path to war, will go unfollowed.

The falling snow has obscured in part the body of the mare and the tracks I laid down, but they still stand as proof for a crime uncommitted. The story of what I will tell forms wickedly, piece by piece hopefully unravelling a bond held between two herds, transforming an alliance into war. My mind seeps endless thoughts of the destruction I will create. Oh brother, what glory.

__________

I have been sent away.

Find someone, He told me. Find a soul on the borders of the World's Edge that does not know of Him, and bring them to Him, to this site of death and chaos.

As my lithe, white body follows the once familiar path to the World's Edge, I feel a sadness rise in my heart. He will always know war as his closest ally, always treat destruction as if it were His very own soldier. My heart beats when His lies still, my mind reels and aches with morality when His is naught but a cesspool filling with the mind-disease of corruption. But I still love Him. He is my brother, my one and only friend in this forsaken life. He is my ward, the ailing life whom I was made to protect. If this distraction of war, this dalliance in politics and this getting dirty of His flesh can satisfy His hunger and ease the aching of His sickened mind, let him do as He pleases. I will never stand in His way.

I find the pair in the World's Edge and speak to my own kin words of insistence and worry. I hardly even notice the mare who accompanies her; the equine kind all seem alike. I tell her little, but say enough. She is a beautiful creature, with a pelt far sleeker and whiter than my own, likely having been born of the snow-colored hue which time, weariness, and malnutrition slowly afforded me. She is younger, but the first I have seen of my kind, excluding any faint memories that I recall of my dying mother. Her eyes are a keen blue that speak to me of gentleness. I wonder if my eyes hold pain. I wonder if my eyes speak of suffering.

"A death," I cry into her mind as I pace and furrow. "Please, you must come," I plead. I do not wait long, I know He waits for me in the mess off blood and death that he has made for himself. I set off at a bounding run back towards the meadow, shouting instructions to follow in my wake to the mind of the younger tiger. I run towards the expansive meadow's territory, towards its wooded edges and where my brother lies in wait. I know nothing of the gods that gather worriedly at its center and the darkness to come.

[[This is predating the site wide plot, but will end with it's commencement. This takes place after A Song of Ice and Death, which is important context for this thread. This acts also as a stealth thread for Romani; as Prometheus informed no one in the Basin of Romani's intended "capture", and she will not be gone for a terribly long time, she will be released after this thread, escorted home by Pyr, and her departure from the World's Edge will likely go unnoticed. As Prometheus is to go into hibernation as the result of the site wide plot, much of this will be written from Pyr's perspective, and Pyr will be allowed to be played alone. This is a closed thread.]]

Romani

It was Kasai's tendency to wander that Romani realized might just be the death of her. The palomino was grazing quietly by herself, nestled in the safety of the Edge and along the border when she realized that the black and white cub had wandered. The mare's head snapped upwards, uncertainty flooding through her veins, hindered only slightly by a stab of fear.

"Kasai...?" The inquiry was sent through their bond, the invisible thread that all creatures and companions understood. Ice-blue orbs scanned the tree-line, peering through the dancing mists, and with a growing feeling of trepidation Romani realized that she could no longer see her beloved companion.

"Kasai!" The cry left her dark lips, and immediately the Haflinger turned her bulky frame around, nostrils flaring, trying to find the fluffy young thing before she could get into trouble... Soon, however, a feeling flooded back through her bond. The feeling of curiosity, fear, and surprise rolled through her.

Me! Kasai cried, a single, childish word that echoed throughout her mind. A me! When Romani had first realized that Kasai had spoken to her, a few moons back, the Protector had been startled. It had been so shocking, so sudden that Kasai had spoken to her, but... It was a wonderful feeling, that only strengthened the bond between them.

Through the brush Romani went, her hooves plodding through the snow, low-hanging branches tearing at her hide, and it was shortly after that she saw Kasai. The relief upon seeing the young cub was monumental, and Romani felt the pressure around her heart lessen. However, instead of noticing her, the young cub was following after another tiger, but this one... This one was different. A beast unlike any that Romani had seen before.

'Kasai...?' The question flitted from Romani's mind to Kasai's own, and it was only then that the young feline stopped in her chase to look at the Haflinger. A look beseeched the mare to follow, and with a brief hesitance, the mare gave chase to the two tigers. From the safety of the Edge they went, traveling through the snow until they reached the Thistle Meadow... And even then, something was amiss. There, standing at the edge of the meadow, the strangest looking colt that Romani had ever seen stood amidst blood and gore. Muscles were exposed, bone was exposed. What was this? It was almost a figment from a filly's nightmare. A body, albeit covered in snow, lay frozen and dead at the colt's hooves. Who was it...?

Ever so slowly, Romani ventured forward, calling Kasai back to her through the mind. The young cub's nose wrinkled at the smell of frozen death, and dutifully returned to the Haflinger's side, poising herself at the mare's right side. Just what was going on here?

"... W-what is the meaning of this?"

[ooc: This post is terrible and awkward, since it's been FOREVER since this thread was made. Due to Alex's absence, I doubt this will be responded to, but... -shrugs- :/ Sorry for the wait, regardless! <3 Also, this thread was originally posted in the Thistle Meadow, but when it came out of Archives, it got placed in the Basin. XD So I'm just going with it being still placed in the Thistle Meadow. I'll have it moved as soon as I can.]

But Because he Loves What is Behind Him.
