The cooling of her attitude as Sage faced him didn't go unnoticed. An ear twisted towards her in mild curiosity as he pondered this, not sure what might warrant him less trust than the black brothers. It was an undeniable fact that he wasn't a warrior anymore. A fading muscle tone and slightly more lax attitude towards insults, threats and general honor and pride that usually plagued active soldiers marked his distancing from senseless violence. Did that make him untrustworthy? Did it turn him into a second grade herd-member, someone to protect and exclude from important decisions, for his own good?

Perhaps it was simply a lack of personal affection that cooled her voice as she inquired about the wall and all but in the same breath seemed to chastise him for even suggesting that she would break the WeyrLeaders order. Lace maintained his casual seriousness, not betraying his speculations with as much as a blink - but in the back of his mind he made a note to himself to spend more time with the golden warrior - it wouldn't do to risk getting on the wrong side of such a strong and important person.

"The wall will be thick" he assured the pegasus as he raised the neck, allowing an easy smile to settle over the inky maw. "Normal glass might break easily, but even if we made it thin as Orangemoon frost I doubt that any material blessed by the Gods would shatter from anything less than their own strength." The stallion turned the head ever so slightly and gave the twin stallions a mildly questioning glance, feeling the weight of their eyes on him as he spoke.

What was this, the recruiting of a yearling? The Glazier held back a frown and changed the weight between his feet, abandoning the tree he had leaned against for a better position - slightly more tense, because it would be a lie to call himself unaffected by the skeptical glances he was given. Had he ever done anything that might put his skill and loyalty in question? Madyrn and Maskan had never received anything but respect from him, so why was it that he got none in return?
"Don't be so touchy, tiny" the dragon murmured soothingly into his mind, half asleep but still following his change of mood with cool interest. "Let your temper get the better of you and you might regret it."
As if he didn't know that.

"And why would it be less amusing if I knew?" he retorted to Sage's banter, catching up on the gleam in her eyes that turned what could have been light-hearted banter into something slightly more.. unsettling. For some reason the who situation was beginning to create a foul taste in his mouth, without leaving a clear reason behind its origin. Was it just him being paranoid?
"Wouldn't be the first time..."
"Oh shut it, you."
