Hooves met flesh with a jarring thud, rendering unnatural flesh to spill scorching lava-blood, knocking the hybrid stud's teeth together with a snap and a grunt. His body's sudden stop sent wings sweeping down, inadvertantly lifting his body back upward again in an awkward, painful bounce. But not as painful as it could have been, for that bounce lifted him high enough that the magma of the creature's core scorched resistant hooves instead of overflowing around vulnerable fetlocks.
Still feeling the resounding, jarring pain of coming to such a sudden stop, Vikram staggered back a few steps on his hind hooves as his wings flexed instinctively, responding to his brief glimpse of having lava well up where his hooves had been. Roaring fills his ears, the tang of fire and the scent of scorched rocks and grass filling his nostrils. Only the creature's focus on the others dancing in and out around it gave the stallion to opportunity to regroup, still poised upon its back.
Another screech, as his flailing platform swayed, and his attention swung outward again, watching as the creature suddenly turned its head around. He recognized the signs not so hidden within its suddenly gaping jaws and focused gaze upon some threat to its being behind and to one side of the titanic stallion. Fire breath.
Lips curved back, revealing a set of fangs in a snarl of defiance. And then the dragon horse was lunging forward, pushing off with his hind legs and tucking his forelegs up as he jumped over the oozing wound he'd inflicted. Wings beat the heated air, finding no real difficulty in finding airtime. Dimly he was aware of another diving in from the other side, with similar intent. A grim simile of a smile warped his snarl in the moments before he flung himself at the right side of the creature's face. Bared teeth sought an eye, flailing hooves struck for cheek and jaw, while massive wings battered at the creature's face in general while still keeping Vikram aloft. It was the span of a few heartbeats, before he shoved away with a roar of his own, daring the creature to come after him as he twisted to fly over its back.
