               SAISANDS

frozen faces can always melt, push this echo in the outside world...

The quaint, tapered little figure of the young duchess layed down on the lush herbage to curb the aching of her light daggers. Her long flaxen silks adorned with flowers gave her little shelter from the burning sun in the heavens that were bright and glaring. Taking a deep breath, she took in her environment. The terra firma was indeed pretty, it was scattered with frondescence behind her and fertile greens of foliage, a fairly safe place as she smelt the air for predators. The vastness of the scenery beyond the horizon gave Saisands the impression she had entered the borders of a land. The rustles in the leaves and sounds upon the breeze told stories of a land that was teeming with creatures, whom the young dame assumed were fairly friendly. A place this beautiful could never be home to such vile creatures that her kin had warned her of. "This place seems safe enough..." She uttered to herself, her sweet voice ringing in the echoes that danced gracefully back towards her.

Saisands didn't quite fully understand whether she should go alone or take up a place in a herd, fearful of lonliness yet felt a need to prove her independence. It seemed that she would need to be utterly sure of the path she would take, by taking each step individually. A young vixen as herself had many years ahead of her, and to lock herself into one lifestyle that she may or may not necessarily desire was a foolish thing to do. The heat of the land made her sleepy, the long hours of travelling starting to bear down thick on her miniscule auric mass.

Doing her best to stay awake, the cocoa pools nestled in her elegant crown did their upmost to stay open, yet fatigue was crawling over her golden pelt. Suddenly, there was a thud of daggers coming fast towards her. She shot up, awake and alert. Doing her best to quickly be on all four pillars to face the stranger, she slipped on grass underneath her daggers and fell back onto the ground, her silks thrown over her crown as she began to throw them back out of her eyesight.

The warrior's brows were knit together in frustration. As much as he tried, he could not control the current coursing through his body, and he would hate to injure one of his herd mates just because he lost his temper. The grey, muscled stallion was on his way out of Helovia, as he would rather sequester himself to the farthest corner of the world than risk another's life. He did not ask for this power. He was born with it, and it cursed him.

With a heavy sigh, his massive hooves picked their way through thirsty brush and dried up trees, electric blue eyes hardly noticing where he was going. Ebony tendrils of hair hung listlessly from his body, and he found no need to carry his tail with pride. Instead it swung heavily at his fetlocks, knotted in a few places from lack of care. Appearance was the least of his concern.

Suddenly, Boltar was practically on top of a young, golden femme who had been laying in the grass, and his blue pools widened with concern, his mind snapping back to the present. He tried to help her by shouldering some of her weight as she stumbled when trying to get up, but gravity won and she crashed. Blonde hairs washed over her delicate face, and he cleared his throat, obviously unsure of himself or what to do.

With a lowered, velvet maw, he blinked, looking into her chocolate orbs with worry. "Are you all right?" he asked. His voice was naturally gruff but gentle. "Here..." he muttered, gently swinging his strong, much taller form next to hers. Carefully, he hooked his crested neck beneath her fine jaws in an effort to help her back into her hooves. With furrowed brows again, the stallion spoke hesitantly. "What were you on the ground for?"

Through the shock that had shot through the miniscule mass of her golden pelt, she stared wide eyed at the brute that had obviously by accident stumbled upon her. As much as it had frightened her, she suddenly become curious as to the stranger's fairly colossal bulk. She moved backwards slightly to take in deep breaths through her velveteen, simply to regain her poise. The fatigue ached down upon her daggers but she couldn't just lay down again; she fought the feeling and looked back to the beast.

A clouded pelt, charcoal silks and azure eyes that shocked yet gathered more curiosity from the dame. Being so young, she knew little but felt the need to know more. Her attention was drawn to the scar that drove its way from his left orb down to his velveteen, prominent yet significant look to the steed. She wondered how he got it, but first she had to answer him. It never quite struck her until now that underneath the gruff tone of his voice, he seemed gentle enough. It enouraged Saisands to feel less frightful of him.

She shook her flaxen silks that were full and beautiful, focusing her cocoa orbs on him as the breeze that did little to comfort her from the heat whipped past her tapered crown and petite pillars. "I'm sorry sir, I was not aware anybody would come. I was tired..." Saisands couldn't help but feel slightly embarrassed by her own actions, she had just admitted to the strapping brute that she couldn't really look after herself as well as she had hoped. If he had been a predator she would be dead by now. "Where am I?" The biggest question in her head, before asking more about the stranger that fell upon her gaze at the current moment in time. She was a foolish vixen, thinking too much about his graceful stature rather than what he was capable of.

The way the mare stared at him with such wide, fearful eyes tore into his heart, and he felt his chest constrict. He found it difficult to breathe and quickly turned his gaze from her own, unable to bear the emotion he saw swimming in her chocolate orbs. She took a step away. He grimaced. Even after recovering from such a fright, her muscles relaxed too quickly, giving away the fact that she must be exhausted.

Concerned for her well being, he made sure that she was all right and listened to her gentle response. Her voice glided across his darkened ears like a sweetly sung harmony, and he smiled just a little, the expression crossing his lips faintly. Sir? She called him sir? Did he truly look that old? He supposed the scar on his face aged him, as did the distant expression in his blue orbs. As she shook her mane, he could not help but admire how the sunlight seemed to capture each pale strand and turn it into something stunning, glowing almost.

He simply nodded in response, not overly keen on saying anything. Instead, the stallion stood quite still, flicking his full and knotted black tail every now and then to punctuate his thoughts. The gentle tones of her voice graced him again, and his ears flickered forward, blinking his vision back into the present. "Helovia," he replied simply.

Boltar realised then that she would most likely need a better explanation, and he furrowed his dark and heavy brows once more, flicking his tail with discomfort. Speaking was not one of his strong suits. Speaking to pretty girls even less so. "Uh... Helovia is this land. You are in the threshold right now, which is the border of this place to the main continent." He paused. "Three main herdlands have established themselves: the Throat, the Foothills and the Edge. Do not go to the Edge. The unicorns rule there and do not appreciate other species like us. I am from the ... or I was... still am... maybe from the Foothills. I was on my way out..." The stallion trailed his finally sentence with an air of defeat.

She couldn't quite place it, but there was a sadness in him at her fraught reaction from the shock of nearly being trampled. She relaxed and dipped her head to show that she meant nothing to it, because for all her little ways, she thought what a handsome fellow he was. As he spoke, she focused all attention on him, her cocoa orbs soft and friendly. Helovia. This was the land she had stepped into? She felt a wave of positive vibes dancing through her and it shook her silks slowly, causing the sun to glow off them. The flowers adorned in the flaxen ruffled slightly but did not waver.

As he explained, he became dejected as he attempted to explain, perhaps even to himself what he was doing. He was leaving? "But why are you leaving- sorry I didn't catch your name," She stepped forward and looked up to his height to grab his soft gaze, "You have much to stay for, I'm sure, such a soul as yourself..." She couldn't say much that made sense. How could she, to such a handsome beast as the clouded stranger that stood before her. One of her many faults was being unable to talk to creatures that captivated her.

At first he wondered how she had gotten such beautiful flowers to stay in her mane, and then he figured that any flower would enjoy taking up such a beautiful residence. She seemed to calm and lower her face in apology. Could she really see right through him? Was his hurt that obvious? That was embarrassing, and he cleared his throat, taking a deep breath to puff his chest a little.

She asked why he was leaving, and his jaw slackened to reply. However, she shifted and his blue gaze was captured by her chocolate one, and he was stuck wordless. Her next words confused him, and he furrowed his brows again. They were profound, but profound things have never much made sense to him. "I am Boltar," he replied before he made even more of a fool of himself.

"I... Well, I was a warrior, but I was born with this ability. When I lose my temper, I cannot control it, and I do not want to hurt anyone. The easiest way to do that is to... well... leave," he said quietly. "Uh.. Sorry. What is your name? Did you need someone to escort you somewhere?"

A keen sense for emotion was such that she could sense dejection rippling off the brute time after time. It saddened her to think such a creature could be so blue, when he had such potential to be elated. She noticed that he began to regain himself as, naturally, any sir would by puffing out his strapping chest. He must have seen that she'd noticed, this made her feel bad. She didn't want to hurt him.

When he finally spoke, it was his name that spoke of. Boltar. I like it. Smiling in her orbs, she continued to listen as her cocoa gaze never lifted from the handsome brute. Boltar spoke of an ability that meant he had to leave. She personally thought it was nonsense that such a thing was pushing him away from these lands. With a gentle flick of her silks, the vixen replied, "I still do not believe that this is a reason to leave, you just need to be away from trouble. It's difficult but I don't think you should leave, think of the people that wouldn't want you to..." Her melodic voice trailed slightly, and she took a hold of herself and regained her poise. Too obvious you fool! she thought. He'd asked for her name, and yes, she did need someone to help. Moreover, she didn't want Boltar to leave, she felt safe knowing that she was with someone that seemed friendly enough. Saisands was terrified of being alone again; "My name is Saisands, and yes, I don't know my way around these lands. I'm not quite sure of my own strength and in a foreign country it does better to have a guide, wouldn't you agree?" Standing before this brute was a mature, golden dame. Well, that's what she wanted to think...

The way her eyes seemed to smile made him think that she knew something he didn't. Was there dirt all over his face? Did he say something foolish? This was probably why he had such a hard time with mares; they always seemed to know more than he did. And, just like all mares, she knew that he was making a foolish decision. He smiled absently.

No one would truly notice if he left. Gossamer and Indy did not exactly know him personally, but Boltar also had never really given them a reason to get to know him. He hadn't exactly made himself a part of the herd life. "I highly doubt I would be missed," he replied honestly.

Wait... did she mean her? Would she be sad if he left? No... She barely knew him. Right? "Heh... going anywhere alone is not safe, but I cannot image anything too terrible happening here. Not right now at least. The more violent individuals are trapped on two sides by opposing forces; everyone is at a stalemate." He paused and allowed himself to appreciate her golden coat. "Do you want me to take you to the Foothills?"

The caramel vixen watched with intense orbs as he seemed to be battling with himself. He seemed unsure of things that should be clear as day to him, that he would be missed because if he had already made such an impact on first impressions with her, why not with others? Saisands felt rather deflated by the way that Boltar was insisting and truly believed that he was not going to be missed. It made her think that he probably would be gone right after their time together had come to an end; whatever the ending would be from this encounter. I mustn't get involved, the beautiful dame thought inside her head, and did little to hide the feelings from the clouded brute. "I think if you were to look closer then you'd find that you would be missed, by a few people..." Her voice, sweet and full of sincerity rang out on the gentle breeze. This said breeze played with the flaxen silks, failing at pulling out the flowers that were very much attached.

She continued to listen, before replying, "I guess it doesn't matter where you go, there's always going to be danger." It struck Saisands that the chance to spend more time with the sir - to get to know him and perhaps even make him stay (if he so desired; she doubted it) - was worth going to this place, the Foothills. Her orbs lit up with the chance and she replied cheerfully: "That would be great!"

Then as she realised what she had just said, the golden dame had to humiliate herself, "What's the Foothills...?"

Boltar found her insistance that he would be missed a kind gesture, and he smiled. Perhaps he owed her something for at least being persistant. "Maybe you are right. It is something to think about," he commented. She seemed to like the idea of him taking her to the Foothills, but he was at a loss for conversation. He was not one for words. "There is always danger, but come and follow me," he said, beginning to walk north and up a slight grade.

"The Foothills is a land whose leaders are two equines like us, but it is open to all types of us. A few unicorns live there, but I do not know if a pegasus does or not. Overall, the place is friendly. There are trees and it has water running from the tops of the mountains." Boltar tried to explain as much as he could. He glanced over, finding her beautiful again.

They arrived faster than he could have anticipated, and he paused at the border of the land. "There are many who will welcome you here," he said. "But for now, I need to... decide what my fate will be. You have given me much to think about, and I am sure that I will see you again."

With a short bow of his head, he turned and trotted into the treeline.

[ooc: I hope this is okay, Danj! I at least wanted her to get to the Foothills and wrap this up]
