         VARATH         

But sometimes out of nowhere
There's demented sounds of laughter





Angry at his brother's violence toward him, Varath bared his teeth and let out a squeal of protest, flashing his tail and kicking one of his hind legs out back at his brother. Still, Varath knew better than to push it lest they end up in a full on brawl in front of the leader of the Edge. Then, his brother nearly gave away that their mother was hornless, and Varath glared sternly at his brother, gnashing his teeth together to ensure his silence. "Yes, red fringes," he replied. "It is a family trait."

When he said that they do not live here, Varath exhaled in relief and looked back up at Mauja. He shook his head at his question. "The Moon Goddess said that to get our powers, we had to live on our own for one month," he explained. "Once we get our powers, we will be unstoppable!"

Mauja asked what brought them here, and Varath cast a sideways glance at his brother. "We heard that evil people live here," he whispered. "We want to be the bad guys too."
