The sociable mare’s light-hearted banter was a welcome relief from the conflict of their previous conversation; that which had brought upon each, feelings of mass confusion and general disharmony. Fig was pleased too, that she was required to share little else besides the trivial ‘yes’, ‘no’, and other fitting phrases to keep Kahlua chatting merrily. Throughout the journey she learned many things, all seemingly helpful to the young Lignea’s assignment initially- so it was absorbed readily; every name, every landmark and maybe more so than the rest, that which was explained about the clan called the Qian. It appeared Mirage and Lace shared a common desire with Fig, to spread peace and manage the world’s equilibrium (even if some who strived beneath their leadership were still struggling to understand the laws of nature. Although her perspective was possibly skewed; her eyes oblivious to the true perils no doubt lining the path into her future, and her heart still bending with the lore of her kin, the filly found herself less and less intimidated by all that surrounded her as the minutes breezed by. She listened with quiet intrigue too about the steed named Kaj, and picked up the note of preference lingering so subtly behind the rambling tone- perhaps this alien, Helovian, would be an ally also.

They paused by a lean river whose waters were not so sweet as the crystal waters of Prim'sylvia which stemmed from the purest subterranean channels, unmarred by any force lingering by the earth’s crust. Fig drank her fill graciously though, and made sure to comment on its freshness because back home, water was the lifeblood of the land- the Lignea never grazed nor foraged because to do so would be horrid cannibalism; it was unheard of.

Soon enough their travel began to slow, and while Fig had been most appreciative of the easy pace offered by the painted mare, she was more than delighted to stop and recover some breath. Life beneath a tree, shrub or even bed of lush posies required serenity and stillness, and it was not favoured by her race to trek such vast distances because of the weight they were born to shoulder; that, and also few left the location of their Soul-Plant their entire lives. The great glass wall which rose before them was unlike anything the filly had before laid her mellow green eyes upon. She drew a breath as she forced her face to lift as high as the arc of her thick crest would allow, and saw that it was quite a beautiful and spectacular landmark.

Kahlua smiled then and explained about the wall; that it distinguished the border to the Edge of the World (Fig tried her hardest to peer behind the glary obstacle to find that point where all manner of life should simply fall away), and that she herself had constructed it. “Yes, it’s quite amazing...” she answered, unable to keep the awe from her wavering voice- but she also asked, as though she might have misinterpreted, “You made this yourself?” Eyes which had settled upon the forthcoming expression of her company, searched for some explanation which might help her better to understand what was meant. “Amazing...” She sighed again, beneath her breath though. The Lignea were naturalists, she was certain the elders had never before seen a phenomenon like this.

Passing through the small doorway- which Fig missed upon her first examination of the structure, the little filly felt a nervous tremble prickle the ebony hide canvassing her lean frame; so too did the foliage riding above ripple, though only at the stroke of wind which slipped between the glass-framed opening with them. For the briefest of moments she turned to eye the passageway, wondering with narrowing eyes if she would still fit as her Body-Plant neared maturity. She shrugged the concern away as a world of lush pasture, and woody clusters of primordial trees opened before her- blinking, Fig reminded herself that this was Helovia, no matter how much like Prim'sylvia it felt.
