Bored. He was so damn bored.
The weather wasn't much different than it had been the last time he'd visited here; damp and humid like it was Helovia's armpit. The air had a bit of a bite and the ground was frozen in places, but it was shockingly warm. It almost seemed like the forest was gave off heat like a living, breathing creature. Logically, he knew it was probably just that the trees grew so tall and thick that the ground was protected from the worst of Frostfall. But all the logic in the world couldn't stop the shiver of unease that rolled down his spine at every little sound.
He was far more stubborn than he was afraid, so he kept his hooves firmly planted and his eyes trained on the reaching branches before him. His hip was carefully cocked, his tail draped over the curve of his bent hock, but he wasn't sure who he thought he would be fooling. The tension thrummed though his body like a plucked string.
It shouldn’t worry him that he had arrived first, just like last time, but he told himself that he wouldn't wait so long. The sun hovered over him, nice and high in the sky. It would be hours still before it got dark and the forest grew even more terrifying.
Taking a few deep, calming breaths, he tried once again to shake that feeling of unease. It was really no use, but Ezital subscribed to the theory that you should fake it until you make it.
Because he was so bored, impossibly bored and not worried at all.
