Lena the Songbird

The trio didn’t preside alone for long; both herds had taken their calls with serenity and equilibrium, no threats, no warnings, no hackles raised. Seasons before, it would have been so different – glares and rows, growls and ultimatums, contracts and snarls exchanged. Lena found the peace much more to her liking, with the repose, with the tranquility tied neatly in place. How long it would last was beyond her measure of sentiments or thoughts – she had no ability to predict the future, but would aid it all the same, in the calm and care of her station. She smiled as the warlord neared, because she knew of him, his size, his stature, his status as the Dauntless, but had never spoken a word to him. He’d been amidst their realms in passing, likely conquering the same foes or battling the same demons, waging feuds and skirmishes across the vast plains. All they had to offer him now were herbs and proclamations, but the Songbird hoped he wouldn’t mind. Perhaps he too had grown tired of war.

“Thank you for greeting us, Archibald,” she declared with a bow, a modest dip of her crown, before returning back to her former position, smiling, cordial, always bearing an air of regality. Imogen bobbled into her senses briefly, for the fox had grown slightly restless as more gathered amidst them, some silent, some unknown, some slightly out of reach, and some apparent and quiet all the same. The Mender paid no heed. They intended to be known and recognized, seen amidst the jungles and vines, the leaves and moss. If they weren’t, then their sojourn would’ve been a colossal failure. Her ears flicked, her grin broadened, as she listened to the gilded Thief’s words, then adjusted her stance, landing her gaze upon the mare who’d joined them, inviting her into their whirlwind of summonings and festivities. “There will be an assortment of things to see and do, like fireworks, storytelling, fortunes, and games. We hope you’ll be able to attend.” Then, she coaxed Imogen further, towards the big, rugged stag, and the ivory kitsune dropped her herb bundle at his feet, waving her tails before returning to Lena’s side.

[Herb bundle includes: Arnica, chamomile, Labrador tea, and caribou moss.]
