This was a strange place. Marble clefts snapped through frost and the hot breath escaping his lungs came in fog. There was more to sense here, there was such a sharpness in the air.
Bronze bodice halted in the serene white surrounds. "What a place" was mused to the silent, still trees. they didn't creek and sigh like in the warmer forests of the threshold; Here they just stood.
However enchanted he was it didn't make up for the sense of loneliness this frozen frontier gave him. He would step on, knowing that loneliness would be cured soon.
The arch was in view, this arch his porcelain friend had spoken of. His mind tumbled back to their meeting in those heavenly fields. That warm evening he thought he would be sleeping on the highway for all brutes and scoundrels or out in the open planes for any devil to have their fun. He had been rescued though, by that starry eyed doe.
Frost teased and bit his amber hide as he began his fumble through the ice. Verdent a gaze traveled along the expanse, its height until they fell on the ivory mare on the other side. It was his rescuer in the heavenly fields.
"Arah" fell from his blackened and splashed maw. The sight of her brought a happy warmth in his lungs but she did appear troubled. As much as he wanted to ask, he hoped their meeting might cheer her and distract her distressed and beautiful mind. grey lips pulled to speak but he was unsure was to say, and so a slightly mindless "are you cold?" was uttered as he neared.
