He smiled as Nephele made an attempt to converse with the cheeky, porcelain filly. The smile broadened as the young girl pushed self-consciously against is thick columns of legs as they entered a clearing with two other pegasi. “The Edge is both my herdlands and my homelands, now. But, no, I am not originally from Helovia, or the Edge,” he answers Nephele’s question with with a somewhat vague answer, darkness creeping into the corners of his eyes— he did not wish to speak of Dorobo and it’s horrors. He was in a good mood and did not want his demons to resurface. But he was surprised that the sleek, raven woman was returning here, “You left Helovia?” His question was also simple, because he had travelled so far to find this wondrous place. “And Erthe, you are welcome anytime. I’m sure I could find a pegasus to help you manage those little wings. Maybe Nephele, herself, if she chooses to accompany me there,” he jestingly winks at the darkly sun-streaked mare, for it is clear that the two are not fast friends. He turns his attention to those already in the clearing. “It seems I’m the odd one out, since I lack wings,” a short chuckle escapes him as he cursorily glances Miykael in order to nod a hello to Megaera— her knows her from the Threshold. But his eyes quickly rivet to dun stallion as he speaks. His voice is rough and, despite his cheerfulness, there is a clear haze of pain in his eyes. “You have the cure but cannot use it on yourself?” There is incredulousness in his voice at the sheer unjustness of the situation. A flame of irritation threatened to fan into outright anger, for the great stallion could not stand idly by while this Healer overtaxed himself to save others. He shifts restlessly on his large hooves. “My good man, that’s absurd. Is there anything I can do to help you? Have you tried to heal yourself?” He mitigates the irritation in his voice with his offer of aid, but there it is clearly smoldering beneath the depths of his azure flecked eyes. “And I thank you for the offer, but the Lady Moon has gifted the Edge with immunity from this disease,” he attempts to rein in his ire as he finishes speaking, low voice softening to a roll in the cramped clearing. He snorts in amusement as Megaera speaks of the Edge, “Yes, we have trees. But I’ve yet to see them grow out of sheer cliffs.” Further quelling his own vexation at Miykael’s predicament with humor seems to be his tactic. “Though I cannot deny that I envy your warmth, at times,” a lopsided grin crosses his face— nearly warming the ire out of his eyes. He reaches down his massive head and playfully tugs filly’s curls as she stutters questions in her nervousness. He was somewhat surprised by it, and his jesting pull means to remind her that she has at least one adult she knows there. And a friendly one, at that. “Perhaps Miykael can cure you,” he turns his concerned eyes to the winged, buckskin stud, “—If and when you feel up to it.” He glances at Nephele, getting ensnared in her attractive dual-toned gaze once again, “And Nephele has been unexposed to the black lung until now. Is there a way you can… check her?” More concern crosses his broad face, “But don’t overtax yourself.” |
