Aryel gasped as the bird momentarily lost it's grip on the amulet, then breathed a sigh of relief as it caught it again. That was close, she thought. She wasn't quite sure about the amulet's significance, but she had a suspicion that beautiful birds that looked like the night sky didn't just up to everyone carrying mysterious necklaces. She noticed the trees were now behind them, and stretching in front of them was a large snowy expanse dotted with the occasional patch of tall grass peeking through the snow. Clouds had gathered into a thick blanket overhead, making the whole area look somewhat desolate. Silence lay like a blanket over the meadow.
She slowed as the bird did, flaring out her wings to come to a hovering stop. "That was fun." she giggled, the invigorating cold and the flight making her feel almost like a foal again. The four-year-old didn't often get a chance to frolic and goof off, especially back home. She watched the bird go into a landing, swooping down to alight gracefully in the meadow. Aryel's landing was somewhat less elegant, she tilted into a downwards spiral and hit the ground at a gallop, sending up a wave of powder snow that mixed with the flakes beginning to fall. She trotted to a stop, nostrils sending up clouds of steam as she regarded the bird curiously. "Okay," she said, lowering her head to get a better look at it. "You brought me here. Now what?"
