Valentine

The boggart was on prowl, forming lighting as the battle begun. It shot lighting from itself, pouring it around Helovia’s Heart. Valentine was unprepared for this, and his reaction was slow. Some of the lighting came straight at him, three waves to be exact. The first he dodged, hearing it sizzle past him as he looked on the next one. This one he wasn’t so lucky with, and hit is left side, shocking his body. The electricity ran through his body, causing his to feel its pain and physical shock. The third hit him, not completely, but enough to cause the pain already in his body to intensify. He gritted his teeth, not knowing how to deal with this pain. He limped, feeling the electricity go out of his system. His skin burned on some of his left side from where it had come into contact from his body. He took a breath, knowing that he was not in the best shape to be in this battle. But it was already too late, and he would not back down. Rain came down on him, coldness seeping into his pelt. It worked as the boggart attended it to, chilling him to the bone in a matter of minutes. He watched as the Boggart sent out a horse toward him. It was small and made of cloud, which was strange to the stallion. He moved towards it, positioning himself to attack it head on. He watched as it moved closer, and then he ran straight towards it, gaining speed. He launched himself towards it, positioning his head to get his horn inside of it. He kept his horn inside of the cloud horse as he moved past, doing more damage to it. After the cloud horse was behind him, he moved to where the boggart was lurking. The others around him had either moved themselves elsewhere or attacked and had moved. He noticed one horse; or, at least he thought it was one, in a trance by the Boggart, doing nothing. He ignored him, for he knew he must be in one of his fears, trapped in an illusion the boggart had crafted. He let the flames of his heart pour from inside him, and set himself on fire, making his skin sizzle from the rain. The first time he had done this he was angry too, and now the pain and torture of that day would serve him well, as kindle to his fire. His skin burned like the first time, letting him know the pain he was going to inflict on the creature before him. It was a fair trade, for he knew what it was like now to have fire all over your body. His voice changed again as it had done before, as he shouted at the monster.
“You shall pay dearly for that, you hideous thing.” He moved with speed he didn’t think was possible in him, considering what had just happened. Adrenaline was following in his veins, heart pumping it to every muscle in his slim body. He jumped in the air, making a downward attack. He hit the ground running and split his horn to the boggart, adding a backwards glance to see if he did damage. He continued to move though, the fire slipping as he moved away from the boggart, and positioned himself for another attack from the thing.

[OCC:
Boggart Attack: Got hit with two lighting strikes is slightly burned on his left, and his body will contract randomly in the next round
Attack: He ran his horn along the body of the cloud horse
Attack: Jump on the boggart and ran his horn into it

"You lack the requisite spine and testicular fortitude to study under me"
-- Patrick Rothfuss

Mercilessly, the angry boggart came and almost systematically attacked the gathered horses before it. A crack of lightening lit up the creature's home made cloud and rain began to fall. An angry storm that would be enough to frighten away those with a faint heart but d'Artagnan had firmly planted his feet into the ground; that was until the fire started. Many colourful curses left his mouth as his own personal rain fell, acidic and full with memory. A red mare with a violent face, her words whipped at him as she screamed in loss of her twin. She spoke; to herself. Her own clouds had gathered too that day and dropped buckets of flaming rain down upon his back, the fear from the memory slid through his body and made him shiver. It hurt. It hurt like a thousand needles all aimed for him, d'Artagnan took two unconsious steps back. Dual eyes wide as he tried to separate memory from reality. They were both almost the same. Almost. Something else happened last time.

Still captured in his past. Seiren. His unpredictable, murderous sister had come to save him that day. Her shattering, cold hard hail had countered that of Histe's. White against the red, he had been saved. The Nightshade had cared nought for the hard hail, it was cold and soothed the fire away from his skin. However, Seiren would not come today and d'Artagnan did his best to hold the thought of her cold hail within his mind. Eyes still wild around the edges with his whites showing, he stumbled to the side this time, and into Crowley if he didn't move in time.

Instinct told him to run, run away from the creature that dared pour burning rain on him. He danced around, ears forward and fixed on the cloud in front. The boggart. d'Artagnan almost recoils within himself and backs out to show his hind end to the enemy. Tail stationary, the rain beat down on him as d'Artagnan fought against his resolve. Teeth clenched, how could he flee? "Coward." He scolded himself with intense venom. What would Kou think of him? Kou... Her pale form appeared within his mind along with his daughters and son. He couldn't let them down. He wouldn't let his family down again.

Ears twitched and suddenly they were pinned to his blood coloured neck. Teeth shone as lips peeled back, his neck stretching forwards and his frigid tail swished back into life. The creature unleashed a mass of wild horses formed by dark clouds. A front hoof stomped in defiance before the Time Mender leant on his forelegs and kicked out at one of the boggart cloud horses with an angered face laced with wild fear. He didn't know if it would connect. He didn't know if he could connect. "NO!" Came the piercing shout from the Nightshade, all his emotion poured into one word.

Another crack of lightening came as his rear end returned to the ground once more. The juicy grasses falling before angered hooves and acidic rain, the water was uncomfortable but d'Artagnan wasn't sure which frightened him the most. The rain or the memory.

 Levi</style>

Levi’s orbs grew wide as his silvery gaze was fixed on the boggart cloud. The grullo was still in bewilderment from learning about this just a few seconds ago, but surely there had to be a way to win. Watching as the others were fired and shot at a sudden stinging sensation fell upon his body. The acidy liquid traveled down his pelt leaking back to the stony ground beneath him. Levi had not realized that the pain was from acid in the drizzling rain that fell upon the competitors. Pressing himself forwards, he realized that he was out numbered with magic. It seemed like most of the stallions had magic and he was unsure that he would be able to beat the cloud physically without any. It was not that he was not physically capable to handle this; it was that he was unsure of how strong this cloud really was. It was magic not even the most fit of a soldier would be able to compete with the pure power of magic. It was surely an almost guaranteed injure, possibly even a death.

Narrowed silver gaze, standing tall and tough, breathing heavily, collecting thoughts, and flickering his silver threaded tail; these were all the signs of Levi getting ready to attack. If this Boggart time wanted to play, then Levi was ready to “play”. Levi was a warrior, ready for any kind of fight around. Levi figured that since this was right up his ally, that he might have a good chance of winning… Well, if it were to be physical. Choas had broken loose now that everyone seemed to be fighting and getting into the Boggart cloud. Levi had no muse for any of these horses so if they got into his way they would have went into the wrong horse at the wrong time.

"Heeeelppppp" Levi’s ears suddenly pricked up in pain as the stallion’s shriek pierced through his ear. If this stallion did not want to do this, then why was he here? No one was making the poor guy do this… he seemed scared half to death. The murmur of so many horses talking at once made him concentrate less and want to rear, stamping his hooves into the ground making them shut up. He hated when there was so much noise and banging, that was why he needed to be a loner for a while. This kind of stuff was too overwhelming; it was almost like a bunch of foals playing tag or something. Suddenly out of the corner of his grey eye, the stallion saw a figure racing towards him. A few feet away, Levi jumped over the young unicorn, giving him a chance to collect himself. Stretching out his massive wings, Levi pinned his ears back as he landed. He wanted to let this stallion know that he should watch where he was going and try to calm himself. “Hey you.” He looked sternly into the unicorn's eyes “Watch where you’re going, you could get hurt.” He did not want to come off on the wrong hand to this stallion, but make him conscious of the world around him.

Angered now, Levi raced towards the Boggart cloud full speed, but as he got closer horses started to get into his way. Dodging horses and blocking the rain with his wings, he was about five feet to the cloud. Stopping in front of it, the grullo caught his breath before getting ready to start his attack towards the cloud.

[OOC:

Summary: Levi watched as all chaos broke loose. Getting ready to step into the game with the others, he noticed that a stallion was coming towards him at a high speed. Quickly reacting, Levi jumped over the unicorn and landed. Then he traveled towards the Boggart cloud so he could battle it.

Attack: None.

Defence: Tucked and ready.

Injuries: Aching body from the Acid rain.

Location: About five feet from the boggart cloud.]

ROUND 2 - ends in 72 hours 1/13 2:35 am HST

They do not scatter easily, these courageous horses that by all rights are instinctively afraid. The boggart wonders how much of it can be called bravery and how much stupidity.

The rain and the dark does little to dampen their spirits, enhancing the anger of the already rampaging boggart. Is there nothing that these creatures feel digging in their chests with cold dread? The girlish wailing of d'Artagnan as he boils in the acidic downpour brings the boggart a great delight, displayed easily in the spread of its icy teeth, the lightning relenting as it grows briefly joyful and feeds on the despair. Dismal eyes shift to watch Osiris as he grapples with himself.

It needs more though, so much more. These creatures must be reduced to whimpering dogs! The boggart needs to look harder, it thinks. The cloud begins to sink, teeth nearly ready to eat the ground, but bit by bit it is torn apart by these animals. The clouds vanish as they are struck, a paper cut to the roaming storm that so can easily make more.

Abruptly however, the boggart is shrieking in raw agony.

Flame erupts from the throat of the small dragon, so pitch in color it had gone unnoticed against the dark backdrop of the unfurling thunderhead. The fire startled the boggart, and the pain of the fire licking and sizzling at the cloud reminds it all too well of the past adventure in the throat, but it's the spit of searing flame against its eyes that has the creature of darkness reeling backwards. Its quiet mouth splits into the scream of a hundred shrieking rabbits as its rain dries, as though evaporated by the flame, and the light of day begins to break through the dissolving clouds.

Valentine's horn slices against the lowered boggart's shoulder, but already wailing in despair it seems an unnoticed blow compared to the prior. Nadira's attack, so early on, was intercepted by her cloud and perished. Osiris's bite to himself causes the fear to struggle and bleed, but it melts into shadows now as the boggart writhes.

For a heartbeat everything is gone. The rain, the lightning, the dark, the acid, the Osiris, the cloud chargers. It would seem a defeat, but celebrate not too early, because the vengeance runs deeper than that. I a blaze of fury the boggart returns as a flame lunging from the heart, running along to spread and burn any that are near, to rap and wreathe in fire. Each individual is faced with their own perilous hoop of death, each on wearing a visible face that grins with a devious mania.

To Valentine the flame laughs loud and clear, as the unicorn will begin to feel discomfort in his gastrointestinal tract. It will be a tightness that is all together unpleasant, as he will find himself with a sudden urge to defecate, but unable to find his release as he is now constipated.

Meanwhile Levi, who Vermillion faces, has turned a rich shade of pink.

Then for Crowley, he'll notice that as he runs the ground begins to crumble and fall away into darkness, a chasm suddenly erupting and growing more rapidly than the horse can run. It threatens to swallow him up, the fire running along either side with a greedy grin while he is locked in his private hell.

[all attacks were taken, exception being Nadira's attack to the main Boggart as it was too high, so her cloud horse took it instead.
-- All cloud horses were hit and vanished.
-- Osiris was bitten by Osiris and began to bleed and struggle.
-- Boggart was burned in eyes by Comadre and flipped out, causes all its effects to cease and eventually stop.
-- Boggart was hit in shoulder by Valentine before vanishing.

-- Sent out fire to each horse to encircle them.
-- Is giving Valentine his fear of constipation.
-- Is giving Vermillion his fear of pink by turning Levi the color (only Vermillion would see it).
-- Is giving Crowley his fear by making it seem the ground is crumbling away beneath him (only he would see it).

There is no main boggart atm, consider each flame with its face an extension of him.]

The wolf's teeth lock onto his shadow, and the fear seems to wriggle from his grasp in a terrified and unusual manner. Curious golden eyes watch it bleed, but the struggling version of himself shrinks into nothing but shadows as a hideous scream erupts across the field. The shadow world that the hybrid had been encased in disappears, leaving clearing the world as a brilliant flash of golden light catches the stallion's feral eye. His head shoots up, seeing the tiny black dragon Comadre directing a powerful billow of white hot fire toward the face of the boggart, which shrieks in pain and falls backward, the rain drying up immediately, it seems. The little reptile giggles in victory before quickly darting back toward the ground. "Did you see it, Osiris? Did you see?"

A grin forms upon the wolf's lips, and he looks toward the small black lizard happily. Tears lace the edges of his golden eyes, while he is completely unaware of their brimming. Overjoyed to see the victorious little brat of a companion he held dear. Overwhelmed by the strength of their bond. For once in Osiris's life, he is proud of a decision he has made. He had decided to trust in that little ten inch dragon, and it was that bond that gave him the courage to face himself. This nefarious boggart would have to try harder to crush the unusual bond between a dog and his dragon.

"Look out!" the dragon calls below, and Osiris's eyes dart down in time to see a roaring fire come toward him. On the ground, cast aside, was still Nadira, with a fire demon appearing to make its way toward her as well. Leaping forward, Osiris manages to get mostly out of the way of the flame sent for him, the wreath only finding itself burning some of the air from his tail, leaving a neat little line of singed fur and thick horse hair writhing on the ground below. Wet paws dance on the sodden earth for a brief moment before the wolf finds himself in front of NADIRA, glancing over his shoulder toward the ring of fire still raging foreward. "Lady Nadira," he calls to her, "you have to get up. Our enemy is not finished yet."

The sizzle of fire, however, would not wait for her to rise. Raising his front end, Osiris spins as the fire approaches, attempting to break up the fire and leave it to dissipate in smaller pieces, but its searing heat still find purchase on his thick fur, burning through several layers until a few choice spots on his barrel and shoulder sink into the skin, causing the wolf to growl in discomfort. He has a very sudden urge to roll upon the ground to put out the fiery spots, but he had the more important task of protecting this foolishly brave unicorn mare from a powerful monster with the capability of creating lifelike illusions. The Boggart, though, was still alive and could be defeated, unlike the dead come to walk again in blades of shadow and anger in Isilme. This was not the worst monster Osiris had faced.

It probably would not be the last.

Vermillion

Hey you, watch where you're going

"You don't say!" Vermillion mumbled with a sarcasm that was quite out of character, brought on by his frustration. Still, his words were not meant for Levi, per say. His head swivelled awkwardly as he watched the pegasus neatly clear his back. "Well i'm not sure if that was necessary" He mumbled again, now apparently having a running commentary with himself. Continuing to mutter, "He could have just gone around, after all." Being a little slow to accurately gauge the situation, Vermillion suddenly noticed that the cloud-horse was no longer chasing him. Taking this to mean that the attack was now over, he smiled with satisfaction, raising his chin with pride. "You see?" He boasted, addressing the group. "All we needed to do was ask nic..nice-...n-n-...nnnnnnnnnn" As he had been speaking, he turned his head towards where the boggart had been, just in time to see Levi's grulla coat turn an alarming shade of pink. His tongue coughtt awkwardly in his mouth as his speech stumbled to a halt.

Pink.

Julius. Father.

Where is Solomon he mind feebly interjected, as his thoughts turned to his lost family. S-sssssss-Sollll" His mouth tried to say his twin's name, but his mind was too occupied in a haze of pink anxiety to focus.

Pink.

He couldn't pull his gaze away from Levi as the stallion moved away from him. Sometime about the colour made his skin crawl. His eye twitched without him noticing, and his left ear began to twitch back and forth slightly. Something in him told him to get the pink. To take it. Count it. Memorize it. Hold it. Wash it. Hide it. Protect it. But he feared it, at the same time. The need felt...heavy, and tainted by something that he couldn't seem to remember.

Julius..

Thoughts of his father kept popping into his mind. But why? Vermillion was too young to remember his father's obsession with the colour pink, but it was undoubtably the cause of his subconscious and irrational fear of the colour.

Wide-eyed, it was only the heat from the circle of flames which snapped him out of his stupor. I need to get out of here! He thought desperately, looking around. B-b-but, there were so many here....maybe they know Solomon! Maybe they are lost too! I need to know them! he thought desperately.

Vermillion, once again, tore across the middle of the ring, like a crazy person. His legs flailed in each direction as he hopped over the spokes of flame issuing from the bogart in the centre. It was pure luck alone that could have allowed him to do this. Each time the flames from his own personal fire came too close, he bucked awkwardly and without much grace or practise. He raced past Osiris and Nadira, panting heavily, "Hiiiiiiiiii what's your names??" He shouted urgently. He just wanted to know who they were, so that he could get out of here. Circling around the circumference of the Bogart's influence, he past d'Art, already knowing him, and moved towards Valentine. "What is your name?" This time, his voice was demanding, almost confident sounding.

Completing almost a full lap, he was nearing Levi again. As his pink body came into view, Vermillion comically skidded to a halt, kicking up bits of dirt as he did. His sudden stop allowed the flame-wheel to finally reach him, enveloping him in flames. Vermillion howled in pain, and immediately dropped to his knees. "Stop drop and roll, stop drop and roll, stopdropandroll stopdropandrollstopdropandroll" He yelled in a pitifully young boyish voice.

[OOC: Character Summary: Vermillion thinks that the Bogart stopped because he asked it to, when the attacks momentarily cease. Turning, he notices that Levi has turned pink, and is mesmerized with panic and anxiety. Deciding that the only way that he could let himself leave, is to first see if anyone has seen his lost twin, he runs over the bogarts outer fire limbs (I'm imagining it sort of like spokes of a wheel?), bucking when his own fire-circle gets too close. He runs by Adira and Osiris asking who they are, then runs to the outer ring, and asks Valentine as he runs by. Coming full circle to Levi again, he comes to a sliding stop, and is enveloped by flames. And what do you do when you're on fire? Stop drop and roll.

Attack: 1/2 bucks at the fire. Probably doesn't hit it.
Defence: Stop drop and roll to put out the fire + flailing all around.

Ending position: To the right of Levi, about 9 ft from the Bogart.]

& if you were going to crucify me,
I wouldn't want 'nobody to see.

Right before his eyes, the horse of cloud and lightning vanished the instant his hooves came crashing down upon it. Crowley landed roughly back down on all fours, and only seconds later did he feel D'artagnan's body collide with his own. It was obvious that the blood bay was fighting something that he himself could not see; the doctor had his silent sympathies. For even though the unicorns of the Basin clung to rough, hardened exteriors, most still had heart for those they called brother.

Just as the brindle turned to face the source of all of this commotion, the clouds began to recede with amazing speed, and for a fleeting moment, it was as if it was all over. The skies were clear, the rain having stopped, and if not for their location in the heart of Helovia, the sound of birds singing in the background would have been likely to find his ears. But the peace that had settled over the group was quick to vanish.

Suddenly, a red hot flame came spewing forth from the heart, singing any and all that dared to step into it's path. There are howls and screeches of pain, but the fire had not yet made it's way towards Crowley. From what he could see, the Boggart had vanished, but where had it gone? Before he could think too long on it, however, the very earth behind him began to crumble, and with each second, only seemed to grow closer and closer, daring to crumble beneath his very feet. A fluttering of fear filled the stallion's chest, and without another moment of hesitation, he moved into the fastest gallop he could muster. But no matter how hard he ran and tried to evade it, the darkness only followed him, the edges lined with a wall of fire.

The whites of his golden eyes were visible by the time the ground crumbled beneath his feet, and for a moment, Crowley felt as if he was falling into the very abyss that lie beneath him. With baited breath he waited for his fateful end when he would crash into the ground, or whatever lie beneath him, and his bones would simply snap at the pressure of the collision. But it never came. Ever so slowly the stallion dared to look down, and although he could see nothing but that dreaded darkness, his feet seemed to be planted firmly on an invisible ground. Blowing a deep snort, Crowley lifted a foot and reached it out, feeling for that invisible ground before he dared put any weight down. Cautiously he felt his way through the darkness until it became evident, that this was merely a trick to his eyes.

Ears tipped back in clear annoyance, Crowley now settled his gaze on the fire blazing all around him. There was no clear escape route; only to go through the fire. It would undoubtedly burn him if he tried to run through him, but if he was quick enough, the effects would be minimal. Backing up as far as he could, the stallion suddenly charged forward and headed straight for the flames, and when he was at the right distance, propelled himself into the air and through the fire. The flames licked the underside of his belly and the sides of his legs, exposing dark, naked skin. He landed on the other side of the blaze with a gruff snort, and lifting his head, he began to search immediately for the damned Boggart. There would be no mercy on this day.

ooc - Jumps through the flame and lands on the other side of it. I would say he stands approximately 20 feet from the Heart, facing where he had been standing previously before running.

The tiger watched all the chaos, his green eyes scanning the battlefield. Much to his concern there was already blood. The stallion, Osiris' clone had been bitten and was bleeding. When Osiris' dragon companion shot flames at the boggart the tiger watched as the boggart sent flames shooting out to entrap everyone. He was able to leap away, although his tail caught a bit of the embers. The searing pain in his tail began when the embers lit. The smell of burning fur drifted through the air, causing the tiger to cough. He lashed his tail about, watching the flames diminish. He still heard the screams of the bay unicorn who was trapped in the acidic downpour. As the tiger did a three-sixty around the battlefield he saw the struggle. The white unicorn stallion was going insane. He looked in fear at the pegasus, who seemed normal. Another unicorn also struggled. The whites in his eyes were visible from where the tiger-coated stallion stood. He watched, horror filling his mind.

The tiger finally took the risk. He headed towards the circle of flames, the box around his neck hitting his neck as he cantered to the flames. Quickly he began to stamp the fire out, moving around the circle until the flames were gone. His hocks and lower legs burning as he did so. Quickly enough he felt the pain. Although he tried to ignore it it continued to come back. Within an instant he yelped silently before staring at the burnt circle where the flames had been. He could do nothing more but watch. This place was swallowed in chaos, and he was determined to stop it.

[[OOC Notes:

Attack: None really, unless you consider stamping out the flames to be an attack.

Defense: None.

Injury: His lower legs are slightly burned from stamping out the flames.

Position: Only shifted about three feet closer to where the boggart had originally been.

Other: Please tell me if me saying the flames that were aimed at Tingal are now diminished is OK. If not I can change it. ^^]]

it has come to pass...

It appeared to have been an anon before the rain ceased. The cold and darkness retreated along with it; the calm before the storm they call it. The sun broke through the fading clouds, and brought a smidge of hope to all who were still coherent. But the precious mare continued to lay lifeless. Caught in her dreams, she was ready to give up. It was the sound of Osiris calling to her, grasping hold of her; she could feel the sensation of being pulled from the world of the spirits and back to reality. It was an undergoing she had yet to be exposed to, until now. It was unearthly and raw. It was the feeling of drowning and then gasping for air, coughing up the liquid that quenched your thirst.

Rising to a sitting position rather without a warning, the little white mare coughed and gasped for air. She ached all over and could feel the oxygen like rubbing alcohol on her exposed epidermis. She inhaled sharply and closed her orbs for a second, before the temperature of the terrain began to melt the icicles that had collected on her pelt from the sleet. The wolf’s vocals rang sharply, but it took NADIRA a moment to recollect herself and take in the dread that enveloped her at the scene playing before her. Everything was vibrating around her and her vision was still fuzzy. No warning was given as a barreling lunatic came whizzing by, screaming an inquiry of who they were. She silently answered with a baby’s breath, Nadira, trying to convince herself of who she was.

It all happened so fast, she was amazed at how abrupt her cranium processed all the tumult that was being released on the group. The first fire comet to come at her, Osiris attempted to demolish it with a manipulated form of a small whirlwind, and with fleetness of foot, she was up on all quads unaccompanied by reluctance. Dismay filtered over her fine facet as the searing flames lapped at his fur coat, sounds of crackles and sizzles as the burned out. She wished they were located near water, but no such luck was running on her side that day. Nudging Osiris, she knew she had been the cause of all this. And if it hadn’t been for her, he probably wouldn’t be facing these casualties. Making a vow, she pledged she would make it up to the wolf. Somehow. But now was definitely not the time for small talk. The awareness of the first touch between was oblivious to NADIRA, as it had come like a natural habit.

Osiris had been right, unfortunately. Their enemy had only just begun his fight. Only because the ashen mare had found refuge behind his husky frame, was she blessed at intercepting a sneak attack of revolving spitfire cruising towards them. With innovative imagination, the ancient beauty made a headlong dash towards the ball. Nothing but uncontaminated adrenaline intoxicated her. The searing agony that her body screamed had vanished, and now she was in autopilot. Like a seasoned figure skater, she switched on her emergency brakes.

Bringing the left side of her rear end parallel with her front, the left side of her torso now faced the oncoming red furry, perpendicular so her open flesh faced the heat. Flames leapt and twisted into the smoky atmosphere. Using her good side, she leaned hard to the right, digging her sharp cloven hooves into the dry soil, like ice skates against the icy surface, sliding to a complete stand still. Only NADIRA slid like a reiner, dousing the fire with a sizable quantity of soil, quenching its thirst for oxygen, suffocating it, until it no longer existed.

Word Count: 622

OOC: Nadira gets up with the coaxing of Osiris. As Osiris protects Nadira, she see’s another fire wreath heading towards them but from behind.

Defense: Osiris steps in.

Attack: Basically she doused the fire wreath with the soil, like you would a campfire if you have no water.

Position: Still stationed behind Osiris, but a few lengths back.

Valentine

He loathed the Boggart. This battle was weakening him, and he knew it. Why did he get himself in this mess in the first place? A string of fire suddenly surrounded him. The heat was as intense as he was the day he first went into the Heart, where he had had his adventure with Lace and the Boggart. He tried to move more away from the Boggart in his flame form, but he felt something squeeze at him. It felt his lower intestines, below his stomach, start to squeeze and shift. It was an uncomfortable feeling, but it wasn’t painful yet. He faced the Flame Boggart, looking at it with a taste of disgust in his mouth. The creature was beating him, and he wouldn’t stand for it. The fire burst around him, flames enveloping his body. He whinnied, rearing up and using his front hooves to plant the boggart’s face into the dirt. The flame burned him there, but touched nothing else. After his attack he jumped from the rest of the flame, unsure if he hit is or not. His body started to contract in midair, and his muscles started to spasm uncontrollably. He landed hard on his left side, scratching his open muscle wound. He moaned in pain, feeling the burns for the first time. All he could do was lie there as his body contracted, and he couldn’t control it. He knew he was defenseless for the boggart’s next attack, and he tried to get himself to stand up. The boggart then sent his fear straight at him; his intestines twisted, filling with what was not coming out of him. He knew he couldn’t get his waste out of his properly, and he felt the pain of this doubled. It was a sinking feeling to know that your body was refusing to work correctly, and worse to actually feel it first hand. He stopped, dropping back on the ground, moaning in pain. He didn’t know it wasn’t real, and there was nothing he could do to fight back.

"You lack the requisite spine and testicular fortitude to study under me"
-- Patrick Rothfuss

There was chaos all around him. Hooves scramble as those who he both knew and didn't fought their own battles. Shrieks of rage, pain and panic beating the clouds that had now dissipated after a barrage of attacks. The acid rain that had once plagued d'Artagnan finally stopped. His body heaved in relief and he took a few moments to take in the air and calm himself down. Ears roving in concentration and tail swishing expectantly. Enjoying a small satisfaction in his victory over a cloud horse he had recklessly kicked out at. It was short lived however as the Boggart redoubled it's hellish efforts and hurtled from the heart in plumes of fire.

Up came the head of the Nightshade and he bolted forwards, a sharp memory plaguing him. It was recent. Very recent. The feeling of burning, of flames, the face of a bare head with mahogany patches. His evil magic that scorched him within. d'Artagnan clenched his teeth, he wouldn't be caught in fire again. Only a fool got caught in the same trap twice. Around came his own personal circle of fire as the shade scrambled close to it, leaning his weight onto his haunches to leap into a twisting jump. Rump flicking in the air with hooves lashing out and attempting to snap back at the flames with a maddening strike. Tail flying like a banner and ears laid flat back against his neck. d'Artagnan winces as the flames nip and bite at his chest and on his hind legs, letting out a small squeal of pain once landing on the ground at the other side. Once his momentum slowed and his hooves found their balance he let out a long, angered snort. Eyes narrowing at the Boggart who had yet to appear in it's real body. Lips formed a thin line with a front hoof pawing in anticipation. "Come on out, coward!" He roared towards the Heart, taunting the creature once more in his feral voice. His brusque tones giving his vocals an angered projection.

He turns to look at Crowley then, who had emerged from his own ring. Nodding in grim satisfaction, acknowledging his comrades strength in admiration and reaffirming himself that unicorns were still the strongest species. d'Artagnan joins the brindled stud in his search, head low as he trots forward. Transparent horns reflecting the carnage of the creature's attack's, hues of red, yellow and orange flickering off them. If it wouldn't come out, they would just have to go find it.

 Levi</style>

"Well i'm not sure if that was necessary"

Levi was not paying attention to what the clumsy unicorn was saying; besides he was acting like a spaz. He kept talking, but it was like he saying all the wrong things and Levi was somewhat getting annoyed. It was like the spaz could not stop speaking and yes he was young, but he needed to focus on the game, and not anyone else. The fact the Levi was a rich shade of pink the grullo had no clue since he could not see it. The clumsy unicorn seemed to speak towards him more, but then suddenly stop. Why was he acting like I was so mean to him when I was not? Levi thought. I was only trying to help him and now he’s looking at me like I was about to kill him.

Levi did not want to keep all of his focus on the frosty unicorn or any other kind of distraction, so getting himself prepared like he was before, the brute neatly tucked himself and this time did not wait for anything. A full sped gallop he crossed between NADIRA and Osiris dodging them slightly. Then keeping his head tall and strong the brute finally reached the Boggart cloud. Twisting his angular body, the grullo pressed himself on his two front hooves so he could thrash out his back legs towards the boggart cloud. The brute agled himself on more leved ground and tried to bring up particles of dirt and stone so maybe he might be able to irritate the boggart as well. His kick was powerful and strong, but that did not mean he was going the reach the boggart cloud or injure him. Levi just hoped that he could be able to slice him up a bit.

The fire balls were falling like cats and dogs, just rapidly hissing towards all the others. Levi’s orbs grew wide as he suddenly raced towards where he was before, dodging fire and trying to get to safety. The thing the Levi did not realize was, here, there was no safety point and that he would have to keep himself on guard the whole time. Bracing himself, the grullo had finally placed himself close to where he was, but was visited by the unicorn that suddenly was back by his side. The stallion seemed to be in pain as he started yelling stop drop and roll. Levi noticed a flame burning on his angular body. A deep sigh emerged from his throat because yes he knew it would be the right thing to help each other, it was only a game right and what’s more important a life or a game? Pressing his body close to the stallion, he suddenly opened his large vulture wings. Flapping them up and down he tried to create a sudden gust of wind so that he could help take the fire out. “Sir, are you alright? Please let me help you.” He shouted as he tried to help the lad.

[OOC:Summary: Levi was confused as why Vermillion was afraid of him when he did not really do anything. Taking his focus off of the unicorn, Levi perused himself to attempt to strike a powerful kick towards the boggart. Then once he did, he ran back trying to avoid fireballs going back to the place he was before. Not long after Vermillion is by his side rolling from fire so Levi tries to help him put it out by flapping his massive vulture wings.

Attack: 1/2- Thrashed out towards the boggart cloud with a powerful kick.

Defense: Trying to dodge fireballs, running constantly until he tries to help Vermillion.

Injuries: none.

Location: Right next to Vermillion and about ten feet from the boggart cloud]

ROUND 3 - ends in 72 hours 1/16 11:16 pm HST

The horses prove to be a strong species, much to the boggart's surprise, and annoyance. What was to be an easy meal was turning into something of an effort, but in a desperation to consume them, it strove on. Each panicked flail from Vermillion and every strangled breath of pain or fear nourished the boggart and it salivated ash as it ravaged the land, the sogginess of the rain evaporating beneath the immense heat.

If only it could be a continuation of taking, draining, destroying. The horses were not for lack of giving however, their hooves eager to smother the flames and escape the horrors plaguing them.

A hiss of spite and agony fled from the molten maw of every flame as it was squandered by a kick here or a stomp there. Yet when Valentine drove his overgrown nails into the face of his fire, the boggart reeled back with a piteous scream so severe the nearest tree trembled back to its frostfall bare. All of the flames withered in an instant, each curling in a wisp of smoke, all personal fears dissipating as the boggart once again fell silent and unseen.

Once more the battle may seem won, but the hunger, the thirst, continues. The the boggart feels worn, it has strength left to endure and it is certain that it will outlast these feeble horses.

If darkness did not paralyze them and fire did not chase them away, then perhaps they would respond to a more natural, valid threat.

A yowl shook the air as a mighty tiger strode from the remaining brush around the Heart. The feline was a slender composition of muscle and grace, beauty and might. Golden eyes cut through the thick of the crowd, landing upon the unnaturally marked horse, TINGAL. The boggart laughed, the sound a dreadful thing coming from a cat. He lunged then, the massive tiger, paws swift and teeth ready. TINGAL would know him to be his father returned from the grave, ready to tell his son all about life and death, but in this case, Tingal would be the one dying as the tiger leapt to land on his back, teeth seeking to rip at his nape.

The others were not without opposition as this happened however. From the grasses lines of striped cats surrounded the first, each targeting a horse with the subtle tilt of their gaze. As the first moved into action, the others broke apart as well, each racing after what they hoped to be a meal, paws and teeth snapping at whatever they could reach.

The boggart knew it would not be enough. It was the private fears that it truly found delectable, and so for NADIRA, the tiger made sure to leave it's mark, lunging at her throat regardless of her actions. No matter how swift she was, how brave or fierce, the teeth would find her jugular and yank it free, blood spilling down her pale breast. NADIRA would die, or at least, she would think so. The reality might be different, but what truly separates dreams and waking anyway? So long as she believed, she would suffer.

Meanwhile, LEVI would notice the form of his lady love Phadra had arrived on scene just as the chaos unleashed. Confusion was plain on her face, but it seemed to spark when she noticed and recognized Levi. She began to approach him, but was soon bowled over by two tigers, her body being torn apart. Could Levi watch his love die, could he let her last breathe wheeze past without her ears ever registering his unyielding affections for her?

The boggart laughed to itself, and so it seem, each cat grinned.

Defense: all attacks from the previous round were taken by the boggart, however the flame was an extension of the boggart and the 'main' boggart insivisble as I said, so any direct attacks to the main boggart were just taken by that character's fire boggart instead.

Attacks:
-- a tiger is attacking each character
-- Tingal is being attacked by his father
-- Nadira is being killed by a tiger (but not in actuality)
-- Levi is watching Phaedra (fake) being killed by a tiger

Again there is no 'main' boggart, the cloud is no longer present, each tiger and each fear is the boggart. And all attacks made by him are really more illusions than physical harm, but so long as this thread continues it should be played as actual and physical damage, exceptions being obvious illusions like Osiris copy, Nadira dying etc.

I hope this clears some confusion up!

It was something glorious to have the rocky, solid ground beneath his feet once more, isntead of the intense blackness that he had found himself standing upon just seconds ago. The licking of flames upon his legs and the underside of his belly were enough to make the stallion twinge in pain, but he wasn't ready to turn tail and give up.

When he had lifted his head to search for the next sign of the Boggart, his eyes instead found the familiar form of d'Artagnan. He returned the stallion's gesture with a firm nod of his own, thankful that his brother had emerged mostly unscathed from all that was happening. Picking up into a swift trot, he joins at the blood bay's side, golden eyes searching relentlessly for the creature of fear's next form of attack. Just ahead, laying low in the grasses were a pair of piercing yellow eyes, much akin to his own in a way. For but a moment, he wondered what these things might be, but the answer came quickly as the striped cats came rocketing out of their hiding places.

Even if his fight or flight systems were leaning towards the latter, he had to fight it as hard as he was able, and focus on the force that was barreling towards him. Would it disappear in one hit, gone in a cloud of smoke, just as the horses had done earlier? He couldn't be so sure, and so pushing his hooves roughly into the ground beneath them, he charged forward at the tiger to make his attack. The brindle made sure that his head was kept lower than usual so as not to expose his precious jugular; if the tigers were even capable of such damage.

When the tiger was a mere yard or so away from him, the stallion brought his front legs up, then quickly brought them back down to the earth in an attempt to stop the beast. If luck was on his side, then it would disappear in an instant beneath the flash of his hooves, but if not, he would continue an onslought of attacks. Not too far off from him, he could hear the wailing cries of a unicorn, for that is what he appeared to be, as he rolled around enveloped in flames. Surely his rolling would be enough to douse the flames, but would the creamy white unicorn be able to fend off the tiger that was barreling towards him?

Keeping his feet moving, Crowley prepared for another attack by the Boggart, but remained close to d'Artagnan. With eyes on the tiger coming at Vermillion, he sent a wave of cursing magic towards the striped beast, hoping that it would do something to bring the cat to a stop. For even if he didn't know the pale unicorn, it was the least he could do to help the youngster of his own species out.

ooc - Remains relatively close to d'Artagnan, keeping his feet moving.

- Tries to stomp/pummel his tiger.
- Sends curse magic towards Vermillion's tiger.

Vermillion

As Levi stepped in to douse the flames by stirring the air with his wings, Vermillion suddenly went limp.

In that instant, all he could feel was heat, and all he could see was pink.

The pink, distorted by the heat rising from the flames, caused Levi's wings to appear hazy and mesmerizing. It was as if some hulking ethereal wraith of pink was dousing the flames. You are mine. The pink seemed to say, only saving him so that it might have its way with him later. On the verge of fainting, Vermillion let his body suddenly go motionless, having seen other animals use this tactic when they were being attacked. Comically, he scrunched his eyes shut and stuck out his tongue, miming being dead. Of course, that sort of tactic did not work against mindless flames, or hallucinations, but it was worth a shot.

It's working! Vermillion thought, once again mistaking his actions as the reason why the flames had suddenly stopped, as he had previously when he believed the Bogart's attacked had ceased simply because he had asked nicely.

Opening one eye to peer around, he still spied Levi standing above him, cast in a ghastly and tantalizing shade of pink. With a yowl of terror, Vermillion lithely leapt to his feet, skirting away from the pink stallion as fast as he could.

Oh, but now there are tigers.

Uncomprehendingly, Vermillion stared into the eyes of one of the cats. "L-l-ook you. Y-y-ou just go on! Scram! I-i-i-'ll poor water on you!" Cats hate water, right?

Wrong. Tigers love water.

Vermillion backpeddled as the cat came towards him, his legs nearly tangling beneath him. His panicked gaze landed upon Crowley, who he saw rearing up to stomp down on his own personal tiger. "HEEEEELLLLPPPPPPPP" He cried dramatically as he lunged towards Crowley. His leonine tail waved right in front of the Tiger's nose as he flailed towards the unicorn. In a rather amusing gesture, Vermillion leapt into the air, like a horse trying to clear a water obstacle, though without any grace whatsoever. His legs splayed in all directions as he launched himself towards Crowley. Vermillion hit the ground hard, dislodging a cloud of dust from the Heart, as he covered his eyes with his hooves. He skidded a few feet, his small body landing nearly underneath Crowley.

Shaking with fright, Vermillion waited to be eaten by the tiger.

[OOC: Summary: Runs away from Pink-Levi. See's the tiger and runs to Crowley for protection, by jumping and diving underneath him.

Attack: Threatens to dunk the tiger in water. It isn't very effective...
Defense: Continues to flail about - hides under Crowley for protection.
Sustains minor burns from the flames.

& if you were going to crucify me,
I wouldn't want 'nobody to see.

Please tag Vermillion in all posts !

Mare :: Unicorn :: 14.2 :: 2 years (Birdsong)

it has come to pass...

Fatigued finally wove its way through the unicorn mare’s skeletal frame. Her whole left side burned from the heat of the fire, now embers beneath her hooves. Her skinned pelt stung like a hive of bees as it met the oxygen filled air. A moment of suppressed chaos was not long enough for the ageless celestial mare to recover. It was all adding up quickly and wearing her down physically and mentally. Surprise and turmoil did not cross her façade as the striped cats leapt from the brushes. It should have been expected that this darkness was not just going to vanish and leave them in peace before tearing apart every last one of them. Her apt vision summarized the havoc that had been spread throughout the heart, taking in everything with ease and swiftness.

It was inevitable to NADIRA, as the tiger charged her, where his aim was directed. The yellow beady pools gave their position away. The best option she faced was to brace herself for the impact, closing off her left side, to keep the cat’s claws from ripping her hide and doing further damage. Too weak to be on the defense, she turned the right side of her body towards the feline. Aiming her ivory spear at the attacking cat, she missed piercing his chest, slicing his fur coat down his spine as his sharp teeth latched onto her windpipe.

Both predator and prey gave a shriek of pain. The unicorn stumbled over her limbs, trying to stay afoot, but landed on her right side with a delicate thud, too exhausted to fight. She watched helplessly as the tiger regained it’s composure. Blood painted his pelt. Shaking his head, eyes glued to her body lying on the ground, and huge paws advanced his torso slowly at first, and then picked up speed. This was her last chance to do any damage she could inflict on the boggart and she bided her time, counting the rhythm of his cat-like strides.

Her sides heaved up and down, inhaling and exhaling, fighting for air. It felt as if her windpipe had been dislodged and the attempt to stay alive was growing heavy on her. With the tiger’s last pounce, his last attack to finish her off, she swung her visage skyward, towards the boggart’s illusionary feline, using every muscle in her sleek nape capable of lifting her skull, and with precision dug her horn into the under belly, piercing the heart of the tiger. Blood spiraled down her milky horn, staining it. The cry of the tiger lasted only but a moment. As the strength of her neck was no longer adept in sustaining her skulls upright position, she flung the tiger, with the momentum of her falling cranium, diagonal to her. As the striped cat’s body hit the floor of Helovia’s Heart, it dissipated into thin air.

Heaving a sigh of relief, she let the heaviness of her eyelids overtake her, darkness shutting out the rest of the commotion that continued to encompass the surrounding area. She had finished of the boggart’s attack, but she still fought the sensation of death. Tremors clothed her body uncontrollably, as she remembered the feeling of her mortal body. On Earth, she had felt her body dying, all around her, she felt death, and now it resurfaced. Devouring her thoughts. Her only wish at that point was to thank Osiris and wish him well. But she didn’t even have the strength or desire to open her pools to look for him. She was tired and just wanted to rest.

With peace of mind, knowing she had defeated this last attack the boggart had flung on her, was good enough for her.

Word Count: 619

Defense: Turning her left side away from the attacking tiger.

Boggart Tiger Attack: Relatively speaking, the tiger ripped open her throat.

Attack 1: Slicing open the tiger’s back along its spine.

Attack 2: As the tiger was going to pounce on NADIRA to finish her off, she lifted her head one last time to pierce the tigers heart from his under belly.

OOC: NADIRA is laying on her right side, to tired to do anything. She is bleeding heavily from her pelt being skinned in the first round, but part of her wounds have been singed and melted together by the fire wreath in the second round. In reality, her throat is still in one piece, but the sensation and illusion of it being displaced is there.

NOTE>> THIS WILL BE MY LAST POST. I am leaving for my honeymoon, and so I cannot finish posting her. I give permission to BOOMBOOM, with her character Osiris to move NADIRA as Osiris sees fit to keep her safe and out of harm’s way, partially god-moding if need be.

I will miss you guys and look forward to when I get back in jump back in to rping with you all!

Valentine

The grey lay on his side, body still full of electricity. He felt the fire on him, burning into his skin. The pain was almost too intense, and he started to feel light headed. He heard the boggart’s scream, felt the shock it drove into the ground and into the tree, but it didn’t do much for the heart stallion. His intestines untwined, and the pain of that went away, for the moment. The world swirled around him, moving from left to right, from right to left. He felt the skin on him tingle, and it was touched by something sharp. He moved to look and found a tiger on him, staring at him with cold, unforgiving eyes. It was the boggart’s, filled with passion and hatred. The tiger played with his skin, moving claws. His mind was out of his body, so he didn’t feel the pain at first. He barely registered, but there was blood seeping from him. Then the pain came in to him. It was wave after wave, almost making him loose consciousness. The pain was long, large scratch on his open side, bleeding heavily. He breathed in and out, the smell of blood in his nostrils making him dizzy. The tiger smiled, a mischievous and hate filled one. It’s eyes where glowing bright, moving over his body, trying to find a new place to strike. The last thing he saw was the tiger swish its tail and smile at him, showing its teeth. The blackness took over him, and he floated, seeming to go out of his body, but he was just blacking out, sinking into the darkness.

"You lack the requisite spine and testicular fortitude to study under me"
-- Patrick Rothfuss

The next round of attack came and d'Artagnan was already on his toes, the rings of fire that had once plagued them dissipated in an almost stutter like effect. The shade nodded once as he moved swiftly forwards with Crowley, cloven hooves punching into the sodden, burnt earth with a meaningful purpose. Ears laced back in defiance, a thin layer of sweat beginning to collect on his neck. An unknown, terribly cry shook the air and forced the Mender to a halt, head held tall with a faint nicker under his breath. Legs rigid as lobes swivelled for the danger.

It came from the tall grasses in flashes of orange and a ring of danger.

d'Artagnan took a steady step back, almost onto his hind, with his eyes flashing at the predator. Instinct kicked in and ears roved to find a place to run to, legs itching to gallop as far away from the Tiger as possible. All too soon he realized that others were most likely having the same problem as himself, Crowley for instance had his own big cat to deal with. Escape was simply not possible, surrounded by other clawed predators d'Artagnan deduced he wouldn't get very far. If this was a trick of the evil creature too, these tigers may not be all they seem. In hindsight, the shade might have seen this as a gamble, to take on a tiger in hope he wouldn't get ripped to shreds. Yet, he saw no other option.

Hind rippled with muscle as he leant back and sprang upwards as his tiger approached. It's claws were ripping and lashing with it's loping, ferocious gait. Timing his move to what he believed right, fore hooves lashed downwards at the striped fiend, each hoof strike attempting to pound the tiger until it submitted or d'Artagnan burred it personally. An attack coupled with a defence, head flung high in a prey's fear and using his cloven hooves to keep the beast as far away from him as possible. A flurry of soil being flung around as he did so, churning up the terrain in his relentless barrage until the shade finally dared to dance back. Rebalancing himself on all fours.

The seconds dragged on as he turned as fast as his huge frame would allow him and scrunched his body to release a buck in the direction of the tiger. Hooves snapping and stretching to find their purchase. With a thud d'Artagnan returned to all fours once again and bolted forwards. Hoping his efforts had done the job as he propelled forwards, eyes seeking Crowley to see if his herd mate had had some luck in his own fight.

A familiar cry of a youth's voice to his side attracted his attention first and he watched as the pitiful form of Vermillion cowered near Crowley. d'Artagnan stifled a grumble. The child always seemed to turn up in the most bizarre instances. Although; one could say the same of him. The Nightshade scowled towards the Heart, the closer they got the more heat he could feel emitting from it. Helping the sweat lathering between his legs now. Was that where the real Boggart had gone?

Cautiously and careful not to get too close, d'Artagnan advanced on the Heart until the grasses were at their shortest and slowed to a halt. Dancing on the spot now and then, tail held high with the occasional flick, showing his Arabian genes as his eyes narrowed at hell hole. Maybe he was wrong, but it was his best guess so far.
