For the most part, Kou is an extremely easy going mare. She's always got a smile on her face and has an air about her that could put anyone at ease. No one would ever believe that under the surface she was racist or belonged to a supremasist group focused on ridding the world of all equines and pegasi. Kou is personable and believes in setting a good first impression no matter who it is. She is secretly very conniving and no issues with aiding in the killing of someone who stands in the way of The Plague.

Kou was born to unicorn parents, Rigo and Marionette, in a land outside of Helovia. In the land she was born in individuals possessing magic were persecuted. When she was young it was discovered that she had magical abilities and so the herd descended on her and her family in an angry hoard. Rigo and Marionette both fought to protect their daughter from the murderous group. In the end Marionette and Kou were able to escape, but Rigo was murdered. In their escape, Kou had been separated from her mother. She ventured back to the herdland in an attempt to find her, but she was nowhere to be found. What she did find, however, was the herd burning her deceased father's body.

The young girl ran and never looked back. Through her journey she encountered many sorts, but few of them were welcoming to her. She thought it was because she possessed magic, but over time she realized it was because she was horned unlike her naked or winged counterparts. Eventually Kou stumbled into Helovia and was taken in by the unicorn herd in the World's Edge. There she learned of each of the Gods and came to accept the Moon Goddess as her patroned God and the Sun God as her enemy. Kou pledged herself to Mauja and Psyche and joined their ranks in The Plague where she served as a member of the scourge until Mauja promoted her to Nurse. She now serves as d'Artagnan's assistant.


x. Travels with d'Artagnan to the Foothills to offer their healing services. They are confronted by Paladin and Solstice, neither of which are very welcoming or civil.

x. Stands with the rest of the World's Edge herd as the Sun God burns their forest. Once he disappeared she began searching for d'Artagnan, worried that he had been injured. After finding him she began helping him heal those that had been badly injured.

x. Wanders around the burned forest and finds Mauja confronting Deimos, who was lurking. She listens to them then yells at Mauja when he touches Deimos after being told that the stallion can kill with a single touch. After this she runs off, looking for d'Artagnan to warn him about touching Deimos.

x. Mauja follows Kou to the Deep Forest where he nearly runs over her thinking that she's trying to escape. They begin to argue about Mauja's careless and reckless behavior. d'Artagnan arrives and tries to ease the tension.

x. Still upset, Kou wanders to the Frozen Arch and stands looking out at the ocean while she contemplates leaving Helovia. d'Artagnan finds her there and tries to comfort her. It eventually leads to the conception of Aviya, Kou's first child.

x. Kou travels to the Edge's cliff where she contemplates her life and pregnancy.

x. Kou happens upon d'Artagnan and the moon child, Mesec, shortly after the Moon Goddess delivers him to d'Artagnan. He admits that the child is his son, nearly breaking Kou's heart.

x. She travels to the Threshold where she happens upon Aerwela, a close friend and distant relative who is trying to escape the witch hunters of their homeland.
