Déodat is a blood bay with minimal paint markings. His horn is ruby mixed with glass giving it many red hues. The pools of his eyes are so deep a shade of indigo blue they are often mistaken for purple.

Déodat was born into a warring Noble line and raised under the stern guardianship of his father, the General of his clan. As a result, Déodat is highly disciplined and is more accustomed to following orders than making them, although countless clan battles have instilled a pig-headed stubbornness in him. He doesn't fear to speak his mind plainly and is not one to suffer fools lightly. Fiercely loyal, he places unshakeable faith in his friends, family, and leaders. However, Déodat will bow to none but those who have earned his respect.

Although possessing a quick and fierce temper, he is largely clear in thought and is very capable when it comes to fighting.

He seems a very serious sort of fellow as his lips are knitted with a frown etched by years hardship and warfare, but he has good reason to be how he is. Yet Déodat is not completely cheerless, for he feels all things deeply. Grudges he bears, but Déodat also laughs loudest and with all his heart in times of mirth and celebration. He greatly appreciates fine food and company.

Being raised with mares who fought daily by his side, Déodat finds the females who don't fight to be 'inadequate' and 'unworthy' of loving. He's very at home around warrior-like mares, but is incredibly oblivious to any affections directed his way.

Like the high majority from his land, Déodat is incredibly racist to other species and isn't afraid to voice this opinion in the presence of others. Due to past relations, he has a natural tendency to distrust anyone who is not of his own unicorn. Ultimately, his heart is deeply bitter and angry, and houses great resentment for other races.

But most of all, he hates himself.

It consumed Déodat's life and the frozen earth was stained raw and red. Déodat comes from the same land as d'Artagnan, Seiren, and Alan. A cold, northern place deep in the wilds of the mountains where savage clan wars rules everyone's lives and every member is expected to fight for their own bit of territory. He was raised on the battlefield, and he fought many times with his cousins. Sometimes with them and sometimes against them, depending on the circumstance.

Déodat was born to a long line of military commanders and is the son of a famous general in a nobleclan who was known for his cunning mind and fighting prowess. Raised in such a magnificent shadow proved challenging and greatly burdensome, as the General was a somewhat cold and aloof man who was never easily impressed. Equally desperate to impress upon his hot-headed youngster the importance and responsibilities concerned with succeeding his position one day, the General was quick to reprimand Déodat ruthlessly when he behaved recklessly or foolishly. Despite the trials of winning his father's approval, Déodat received an expert education in the art of war and aristocracy that allowed him to excel in the ranks.

At three years old, he was promoted to Captain and trusted with immense responsibilities. One night during his watch hours, a renegade band of pegasus raided the clan and many were slaughtered in the night—both unicorn and pegasus alike. The the pegasus were finally driven from the lands into the farthest reaches of the cold north, his mother was also discovered among the dead. Perhaps that is when the first thread of darkness twined around the young warrior's heart, and he developed a great and terrible grudge against those winged-beasts different from himself. After this devastating event, he and his father shared a strained, heated relationship kindled by the loss of wife and mother, and Déodat could not help but wonder if his father blamed him for her death.

Years later, a delicate peace of sorts—for it could not be called an alliance—existed between equine and unicorn. But war raged on between the unicorn clans, each caste fighting for power, prestige, and recognition among the clans. The serving clans rebelled against the noble and high clan, and a great and terrible civil war tore the unicorn clans to pieces. The pegasus clans spotted their chance to join the invasion and crush the weakened noble clan that had driven them from their homeland, and so they seized opportunity and delved into the chaos. Death surrounded Déodat, and all things laughter and light abandoned him. Desperate beyond all measures to save his clan, the General sent his son south to appeal to the equine clans and gather troops to destroy the rebel and pegasus invasion.

They refused.

Déodat returned to his beloved clan empty-handed, the horror of war reflected in his comrades' eyes as they lost all sight of hope. Even if he managed to return with recruits, it was too late. His childhood companions lay stiff and cold in pools of their own blood, his troops falling all around him, and his father slain before him by a wicked pegasus commander with vivid golden eyes. The strength of the nobleclan nearly failed that day, but driven by the thirst for revenge the surviving force rallied around their young captain.

But all was lost.

HELOVIA YEAR TWO: BIRDSONG

strength and honor, After stumbling through the majority of Frostfall weak and wounded, Déodat enters the Threshold of Helovia. There, he meets the unicorn mare named Kou, who offers him a home in the Basin. He is then reunited with his cousin, d'Artagnan.

like slow-spinning redemption, Déodat meets Larkspur in the Basin and they learn a little about one another through friendly mocking.

a deadly sword, a healing hand, After being wounded, Lena heals him through song.

the requiem, Déodat meets Chernobyl in the Basin and attempts to convince her of her significant breeding.

be great in act, as you have been in thought, Déodat joins in the attempt to rescue Aurelius and Elizabeth from the Dragon's Throat.

HELOVIA YEAR THREE: FROSTFALL

burdens of the heart, After time spent away from Helovia, Déodat returns to the Basin and runs into Lena and Arah the Impersonator.

magic in death and beauty in blood, When Déodat meets Confutatis in the Frozen Arch he is blinded by her darkness to overlook her racial differences.

turning tables, After eternal night plagues Helovia, Déodat begins to rethink his choice of company in Confutatis.

the land of ice and stone, The blood-stallion meets Corporal Illynx in the Frozen Arch and begins to respect her.

To Rise Again, whilst admiring his own reflection, Déodat meets Rinoah.

The Laughing Moon, The Ugly Sea, the Blood Prince reunites with two his two cousins.

Helovia Year Three: Birdsong


Dreamlessness——, meets Rinoah in the Threshold along with Iosui.

The Blood Prince then leaves Helovia once again, this time to do some soul searching and to seek out the pegasus that killed his father.

HELOVIA YEAR FOUR: Orangemoon A Wayward Wanderer's Return, Déodat returns to the Basin, unsure of why he left. Reunites with Lena and meets a filly by the name of Frost Fyre.

From the Shadows, Broken, while out and about Déodat finds something wicked brews. Flees back to the Basin.

Ominous Omens, the Soldier Prince tells of what is brewing within the south.

Gather 'Round Men, Déodat tries to rally the soldiers of the Basin to prepare them for the oncoming darkness. Only one shows up, which makes him begin to question the others loyalty.

Helovia Year four: Frostfall

Come a Runnin' Baby, heads to the Threshold and meets a stallion named Amadeus.

There's No Room For Innocence, The Blood Prince stumbles across a familiar face.

Traveler Returns, meets Ruka who Déodat assumes is an intruder at first. Gets along poorly with the stallion, and his faith in his fellow soldiers drops even further.

Absinthian Saltuations - meets a stallion named Crash Course and a colt named Feritas in the Threshold. Finds out Crash Course was a member of the Basin.

Beware of the Ghost Light, finds monsters at the Basin's doorsteps. The Blood Prince charges at it and falls, the Blood Prince dies and the Blood King is born.

The Fall of the King, The Blood King pursues his herd in an attempt to drag destroy them all. At the mouth of the Sanctuary is dragged down and cured. When Déodat leaves, he finds a strange orb, picks it up in case it turns out to be something powerful.

Cavalier Youth, Déodat grows restless in the Sanctuary and so he picks a fight with the stallion Tyradon.

Bedding With Foes, Déodat finds himself reuniting with Confutatis. This night isn't nearly as affectionate as their first, and leads to a fight.

Unite and Spread the Heart Apart, Déodat attends a herd meeting and is promoted to Corporal.

Birdsong: Year four

Lipstick Stamps My Passport, meets Elsa in the Frozen Arch with a young Odette. Déodat is in an oddly good mood, ends up conversing with the pegasus.
